A two-car crash on Manchester Boulevard sent four people to the hospital with multiple injuries early Sunday afternoon, Manchester Township Police said.
A Nissan Altima and Ford Explorer slammed head-on around 1:25 p.m. as both were heading through the curve on Manchester Boulevard, police said, forcing first responders to cut the Nissan’s driver free of the wreck.
That driver, Michelle L. Pisauro, 43, of Browns Mills, sustained internal and facial injuries in the accident, police said, and was rushed by ambulance to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, after a medical helicopter was grounded because of the weather.
She was listed in serious condition at the hospital.
The driver and two passengers in the Explorer—Susan Raba, 59, Robert J. Raba, 61, and Beverly Crennan, 46, all of Jackson—were also injured, and were taken to Community Medical Center for treatment.
All four people involved in the crash were wearing their seat belts, police said.
The crash remains under investigation by Ptl. Ian Bole from the Manchester Township Traffic Safety Bureau.
Assisting at the scene were the Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, the Manchester First Aid Squad, MONOC paramedics and Quality Medical Transport.
