Crime Especially DRUGS in Brick

When my family and I moved here to Brick I was listed as one the SAFEST TOWNS in the entire country. Now we learn we have a really big DRUG problem I our town!! Time for the people in town hall to stop making nice with everybody, we need a hard push on those who are using drugs> these are the people who are making the crime rate go up! Time to crack down HARD on all drug users no matter what they are doing  !!!!This should be the number one target for the newly elected Mayor and Council!!  If not we will find ourselves at the mercy of the drug dealers and such all to quickly!

You can blame the former mayor. He did away with BMAC. He and his republican cronies sold liqueur license's to balance there bloated budgets.

Brick, I'm trying to point blame at anyone. I'm just saying that if we don't get a handle on the crime rate now, we are going to find ourselves looking more like Camden and Newark before you know it !!!

I think we need a few more large drug raids in CERTAIN condo developments in town where the drug dealing business is thriving. Pull the weed out by the root to kill it. Just don't pull off the leaves. If you do it will alays grow back. We hear constantly in town where the worst drug using and dealing is going on but hear of very little about raids or arrests in that particular area. Bad landlords have also contributed, just by renting to very low caliber tenants. Renting to someone with a long list of convictions on their record, especially for drug offenses, will only bring that kind of activity. But a certain group of landlords only want the $$$$.

I for one am glad that the drug issue in Brick is finally being realized. When my kids entered the high school 5 years ago is when I found out how bad things really were. It would make your head spin if you knew what was allowed to be going on in that school !!! When I got no where with school officials, I went to see the police chief to beg him to clean up the school. I was told by him that drugs were not a problem...it was the gangs...yea ok.. I knew then that this town just sweeps everything under the rug so no one looks bad. I dont know how these people sleep at night...Unfortunately they have let this problem get so out of hand when it could have been nipped in the butt early on..Now the people in this town have to deal with ghetto conditions.. I cant even walk my dog in the bike trails w/o seeing 2-3 drug deals going down..Do I see cops? Nope.

Jim. Please read my post 'Past and Present' which you may or may not agree with. I look back at my childhood in the once safe optimistic city of Paterson, now among the most dangerous cities.

Alphonse, I too grew up in North jersey. The town I grew up in is now over run with shall we say a slightly less welcome element then it use to be. What a shame!!If we are not carful here in Brick we too will be over run by the drug dealers and gangs just like what has happened in North Jersey !! it's time for a much more heavy handed approach to dealing with this element!!

We need to do everything possible to make our town too hot for the dealers to handle. Speak up, speak out and kick those low life thugs out of our town.
