Betty E. Johnson nee Banos, 88, of Brick, passed away peacefully on October 28, 2013. Born in Bayonne, NJ to the late Peter and Rose Banos, she was a former resident of Newark and East Hanover before moving to Brick in 2005.
Betty was a dedicated parishioner of St. Demetrius Church in Newark for many years. She worked as a cashier at the Marriott Hotel in Morristown. Betty was a devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt; who shared the love of life with her family and friends. She touched the lives of everyone she met, always with a positive outlook, offering welcoming joy to her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Christ Johnson in 1965
Surviving are her loving children, Stevie and wife Christine, Peter and wife Grace, and George and wife Marianne, her dear siblings, sister Ann Panuthos and brother James Banos, her cherished grandchildren, Peter, Anthony, Nicole, Christopher, Steven, and Jordan, and her great grandchildren, Vaughn, Addison, Jayden, Mia, and Ava.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, October 30th from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00PM at O’Brien Funeral Home, 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. Funeral services will begin with a prayer at 10:00AM on Thursday, October 31st at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Fairmount Cemetery, Central Avenue, Newark.
