Ocean Medical Center Becomes First Hospital in Two-County Region to Receive Accreditation in All Imaging Modalities

Breast MRI is among several services acknowledged for exceptional care and quality at Ocean Medical Center.

Ocean Medical Center has been awarded accreditation in breast MRI as the result of a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR). This achievement marks the ninth and final ACR accreditation that the hospital has earned, making it the only hospital in Ocean and Monmouth counties to be accredited in all nine imaging modalities.

The breast MRI accreditation completes the spectrum of ACR accreditations that an imaging facility can earn. This most recent award adds to Ocean’s ACR accreditations for breast ultrasound, computed tomography (CT), magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), mammography, nuclear medicine, positron emission tomography (PET), stereotactic breast biopsy, and ultrasound. Ocean Medical Center also holds a separate designation as a Breast Imaging Center of Excellence.

Patients receiving treatment or testing at an ACR-accredited imaging facility can be assured that they are receiving the best care provided by an entire team of dedicated professionals, reflecting their investment and commitment to providing exceptional medical imaging technology, patient care, and service to the community.

The ACR, headquartered in Reston, VA, awards accreditation to facilities for the achievement of high practice standards after a peer-reviewed evaluation of the practice. Evaluations are conducted by board-certified physicians and medical physicists who are experts in the field. They assess the qualifications of the personnel and the adequacy of facility equipment. The surveyors report their findings to the ACR’s Committee on Accreditation, which subsequently provides the practice with a comprehensive report.
