Kimball Medical Center Holds Prescription Medication Info Session/Drop-Off

Prescription drug-related deaths outnumber deaths from heroin and cocaine combined, according to a recent report released by the Trust for America's Health. With just one out of 10 Americans receiving treatment for prescription drug addiction, prevention is key.

Help fight the prescription abuse epidemic in Ocean County by learning how to safely store and dispose of your prescription medicine at a Lunch and Learn information session on Monday, April 28 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Center for Healthy Living at Kimball Medical Center, located at 198 Prospect Street in Lakewood. The program is presented by Barnabas Health Institute for Prevention, in partnership with the Center for Healthy Aging and the Center for Healthy Living at Kimball Medical Center and the Ocean County DART Coalition.

Participants will enjoy complimentary lunch while they learn about the guidelines for safe storage and disposal of prescription medications. Guests are encouraged to bring their old medications with them – the Lakewood Police Department will be on hand to collect unused or expired prescription medication for proper disposal.

The program is free, but registration is required by calling Health Coach Peggy Lomerson at 732-575-0452 by April 24.
