Mayoral Candidate Meet and Greet Planned

Event planned for Friday.

The Brick Township candidates for mayor will both attend a meet-and-greet scheduled for Friday, Oct. 18 at 7 p.m. at the Cedarcroft Club, 347 Cedarcroft Drive.

All are welcome to attend the event, which will include a question-and-answer period.

Coffee and tea will be provided.

In June, Joseph Sangiovanni won the nomination to be the Republican candidate for Brick mayor in November's general election. On the Democratic side, John Ducey bested challenger Joe Lamb for the mayoral nomination.

Sangiovanni has told Patch in past interviews that his campaign would focus on rebuilding Brick "with the least impact to the taxpayers."

"I personally think that these next four years will be challenging for any mayor, and it's going to require that you have some special skills to get through it," he said.

Ducey, meanwhile, has said he expects the primary issues in the mayoral campaign to be the recovery from Superstorm Sandy, especially the financial impact on the entire town, and spending as a whole.

"We really need a fresh perspective on things," said Ducey, when asked why he decided to run for mayor. "Spending has been out of control over the last few years."
