Traffic Delays Expected on Route 9 Monday

Backups in Lacey may last two and a half hours due to funeral of fire chief

The Lacey Police Department will be assisting in directing traffic associated with the funeral of Lanoka Harbor Fire Chief Kevin A. Perrone, Police Chief David A. Paprota said.

"There will be significant traffic delays from approximately 10 a.m. through approximately 1:30 p.m. on Route 9 from near Bay Way and the Berkeley Board to Haines Street near the Wal-Mart and Good Luck Cemetery," the chief said in an alert on the police department's website.

Motorists traveling southbound on Route 9 will experience the greatest delays. Police officers will set up detours to ease the flow of traffic whenever possible, the chief said.

Perrone, 48, died last week of complications from kidney failure His funeral will be held at 11 a.m. in the Lanoka Harbor Volunteer Fire Company firehouse on Route 9 and Warren Street. He will be buried in Good Luck Cemetery.
