Route 88 Bridge to Close Overnight This Week

Maintenance on electrical system will be performed

State transportation officials said Monday that the Route 88 bridge over the Point Pleasant Canal would be closed to traffic two nights this week.

On Wednesday, Feb. 29 and Thursday, March 1, the state Department of Transportation will close the bridge to traffic from 9 p.m. to about 6 a.m. the following morning.

The closures are necessary for continued maintenance on the vertical-lift bridge's electrical system, officials said.
