Man Charged With Receiving Stolen Property

Police searching for car burglary victims from this morning.

A 20-year-old Brick Township resident has been arrested and charged with receiving stolen property and obstructing justice after an incident this morning, police said.

Michael Stratton was taken into custody after police said he matched a witnesses description of a person walking down Marbro Avenue and attempting to enter vehicles.

Brick police responded to the area after a report of car burglaries between five and 6:30 a.m.

A witness stated the subject was observed trying the door handle of a vehicle down the street from his residence and described the man, who was spotted a short time later on Sweeney Avenue near Kuster Lane.

Upon observing police, Strutton allegedly fled into the woods where officers pursued, located and arrested him.

Police said Strutton was in possession of some proceeds matching the description of items removed from vehicles, including a silver iPod nano.

At this time, Township police are still attempting to identify victims of the car burglaries. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 732-262-4708 or 7322621120.
