Smashburger Heads to Brick

New business will employ 60 people.

Ocean County will be getting its first Smashburger later this month, according to a statement from company officials.

The chain is scheduled to open on Wednesday, Aug. 21, 2013 at Brick Plaza, 1060 Cedar Bridge Ave., Brick, NJ.

Smashburger will feature a regional menu, including the New Jersey Burger, which will feature Applewood-smoked bacon, blue cheese, grilled onions, haystack onions, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise on an onion bun, and some traditional favorites, like the Classic Smash Burger, which features American cheese, smash sauce, ketchup, lettuce, tomato, pickles and onion on an egg bun.

“We are excited to announce the grand opening of Ocean County’s first Smashburger location,” said Anthony Pellizzi, CEO, Multibrands Management Corp. in the statement. “Over the last five years, we have seen an explosion in people’s interest to eat higher quality burgers than the typical fast food fare. Smashburger’s better burger concept delivers exactly that – great burgers coupled with excellent service in a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere.  Additionally, this new location will add 60 new jobs to the local economy.  We are looking forward to joining and serving members of the Brick community and beyond.”

Interested applicants can stop into the store to apply.

The company touts its never frozen, Angus Beef, which is "smashed" on a 400- degree flat grill to sear in the juicy flavor. The burgers are then served on toasted artisan buns.

Customers can also try grilled chicken sandwiches, and fresh tossed signature salads, along with a variety of sides including rosemary and garlic–seasoned Smashfries, Haystack Onions, and Veggie Frites. The restaurant will also serve hand-spun Häagen-Dazs shakes and Stewart’s root-beer floats in frosted mugs.
