Gear Up Now With Great Beach Gadgets

Make yourself a high-tech hit at the beach this season

With summer right around the corner, many Brick residents have already begun to make plans to hit the beach. If you’re planning a trip to the beach with your family or friends, there are a few essential summer gadgets you’ll want to take with you.

The first step in planning a successful day at the beach is checking the weather. Thanks to the Weather Channel’s mobile app, you don’t have to wait for the news to tell you what this weekend holds in terms of weather – just fire up the app, and check the 10-day forecast. The Weather Channel app is available for any and all smartphones, including Android phones, and the iPhone and it’s a big help when planning your next beach trip.

Once you’ve picked a day to hit the beach, the next obstacle you’re going to have to overcome is finding a parking spot. Long-time Jersey Shore residents are no doubt familiar with the frustrating experience of finding a parking spot near the beach on a Saturday afternoon. Fortunately, Google has come up with a solution: Open Spot. Open Spot allows Android Smartphone users to tag available parking spots so others can make use of them. Just be warned, the effectiveness of this app is directly related to the number of active users in a given area. If no one’s tagging parking spots, the app won’t show them to you. Fortunately, Google has implemented a Karma points system to encourage users to tag open spots.

Once you’ve found parking and made your way to the beach, it’s time to figure out exactly how you’ll be spending your time for the rest of the day. If you are out to get a nice dark tan, you’ll need the Suntracking Beach Chair. This beach chair swivels a full 360 degrees, making it easy to follow the sun without having to get up and reposition your chair. Just remember to apply sunscreen periodically to avoid a nasty sunburn!

Amazon’s Kindle has replaced paperback books for many avid readers, but all the sand and water at the beach tends to do serious damage to the ereader. If you’re a Kindle owner who enjoys sitting under an umbrella and reading a book at the beach, you’ll want to check out the TrendyDigital WaterGuard case for the Kindle. This case will keep your Kindle safe from sand and water so you can enjoy a good book at the beach without having to worry about damaging your ereader.

If you plan to spend most of your time in the water, you might want to pick up a FINIS SwiMP3 player. This MP3 player holds one gigabyte of music, and it’s waterproof, so you can listen to your tunes both in and out of the water.

There’s even a gadget available to make things better for the beachcomber – the remote control metal-detecting dune buggy. It may not be quite as powerful as a regular metal detector, but driving this dune buggy around the beach is way more fun than walking around with a clunky metal detector. It can detect metal that’s buried as far down as four inches – deep enough to find plenty of loose change and lost watches.

All of these gadgets are going to need power, and it just so happens that there’s a gadget to help beachgoers with that as well. With the Premium Solar Charger, you can charge your phone, MP3 player, and most other USB powered devices. As long as the sun is shining, your gadgets will keep running thanks to this device.

No matter what type of beachgoer you are, these gadgets will help you to have a great day at the beach. From parking to playing, these gadgets are essential for every  part of your next day at the beach.
