Chill Temperatures Descend Over Ocean County, Freeze Warning Issued

Below freezing temperatures could damage sensitive plants and crops


Put the suntan lotion away and pack up your flip-flops, at least for the next several days. Yes, it is April 16.

The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for tonight and early Thursday morning, with temperatures falling to the low 30s and possible even the 20s.

 A freeze warning means that subfreezing temperatures are possible, which could damage sensitive or blooming plants and vegetation.

Today - Sunny with a high near 46 degrees. Expect brisk north winds at 16 to 22 miles per hour.

Tonight - Mostly clear, with a low around 33 degrees. Winds will be from the northeast at 11 to 14 miles per hour.

Thursday - Mostly sunny with a high near 48 degrees. Winds will switch to the east at 17 to 20 miles per hour.

Thursday night - Mostly cloudy with a slight chance of showers. Expect a low of 38 degrees and winds from the east at 11 to 14 miles per hour.

Friday - Mostly cloudy with a high near 48 degrees.

Temperatures will not hit the 50s until Saturday, the weather service said.
