Celebration Planned for Brick Library Opening

Event will take place Oct. 27

The Brick branch of the Ocean County Library will mark its reopening Oct. 27 with a community celebration.

Beginning at 12 p.m. that day, there will be a ribbon cutting, speakers, tours, a performance by the Ocean County Library Puppet Show Players, activities for children and a visit from Sparks, the library mascot.

There will also be entertainment by the Richard Reiter Swing Band and refreshments provided by the Ocean County Vocational Technical School's culinary arts program.

The opening will also feature demonstrations of Playaways and E-readers.

Many of the activities were provide through donations and fundraising on the part of the Friends of the Brick Library group.

The Brick branch of the county library system is the most visited branch county-wide.

As part of the soon-to-be completed renovation, the building's interior has been redesigned to increase floor space by approximately 3,000 square feet.

Ocean County Library Commission Chairman Henry J. Mancini has said the project will create meeting room and study spaces, a children's story corner, a new teen area, and a conference room that can serve a dual purpose as a computer instruction lab. The branch will also receive 10 new computers for the lab.

That's Great !!! I'm still not sure why it had to be "renovated" I have been going to the Brick Branch for 30 years & this building & it's Interior seemed Fine, guess there is to much County money That needs to be spent!!

Yes, county had to spend money to keep political cronies solvent. Brick is #1 library because downtown TR library has no free parking.

A wonderful project that will benefit our entire community. Please support "Friends of the Brick Library," a great bunch of people who have worked selflessly to make this possible.

While I've enjoyed the temp one being a little closer to my house, I'm happy to see the branch reopen!

And what is Lakewood's excuse? Why isn't their library upgraded to match the uptick in population?
