Brick PBA to Host Fundraiser Tonight at Friday's For Local Boy Fighting Cancer

The Brick Policemen's Benevolent Association will host its annual Bar Competition fundraiser Thursday night at T.G.I. Friday's in Brick in support of the family of Wyatt Kubar, a 12-year-old township boy fighting a rare form of cancer.

The event, which begins at 7 p.m., will also include an auction of gifts from local businesses to help raise money for the Kubar family.

There will also be bar flare, prizes and a photo booth.

Benefit Basketball Game in Two Weeks

The event at Friday's comes two weeks before the PBA's annual Helping Hands Basketball Game between township police officers and the Brick Dragons football team.

The basketball game will also benefit Wyatt as he battles Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare, aggressive bone cancer.

Wyatt has been undergoing treatment, including chemotherapy, at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, for the past seven months, his family says, and is now facing orthopedic surgery for removal of a tumor. The surgery involves removing Wyatt's arm bone and replacing it with a prosthetic arm and elbow.

The basketball game will be held at Brick Township High School's east gym at 7:30 p.m. March 28. Tickets can be purchased in advance or at the door for $3 each, per adult, or $2 each, per student.

The PBA has also encouraged local residents to donate to the cause in any way possible. Checks can be sent to PBA Local 230, C/O Richard Nelson Jr., P.O. Box 1067, Brick, N.J. 08723.
