Brick Food Relief Group Gets a Permanent Home

Relief operation had previously been based at Brick PAL building

Operation Brick Food Relief announced late Thursday night that it had found a permanent home for its Superstorm Sandy relief efforts.

The group, which has been serving hot meals to storm victims since Sandy rolled ashore, formed at the Brick PAL building. But eventually, the PAL requested the group find a new base for its operations so the PAL's normal slate of activities could resume.

After a few days at a Duchess Lane church, group organizers said their new home would be a storefront in Bay Harbor Plaza on Brick Boulevard, commonly known as the Stop 'n Shop plaza.

The location keeps the organization in Brick but also moves it closer to the hard-hit Silverton section of Toms River.

"We have never been more excited to share that we have finally found a new home!" the group announced Thursday night. "We have never given up and our perseverance has finally paid off."

Volunteers with the group are set to begin readying the new location Friday, both for food distribution as well as a Christmas gift relief operation.

Additional volunteers are being sought from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday to help set up the storefront and begin the Christmas program. Those wishing to volunteer can go to the new location, a posting on the group's Facebook page said Friday. Those seeking additional information can call 732-237-4200 or e-mail OperationBrickFoodRelief@gmail.com.
