Ash Wednesday Services Planned in Brick

Wednesday, Feb. 13, is Ash Wednesday this year

Ash Wednesday services will take place at several churches in Brick this week.

The tradition, which begins the season of Lent for Christians, dates back to Biblical times. The faithful are marked with black ashes on their foreheads, which symbolizes human mortality and repentance to God.

250 Old Squan Road

Masses: 8 a.m., 11 a.m.; 3 p.m.; 7 p.m.
Parishioners are encouraged to come to a palm burning ceremony Tuesday following the 11 a.m. Mass. Palms from last year can be replaced in a receptacle in the church lobby for birning.

Epiphany Roman Catholic Church
615 Thiele Road

Masses: 7 a.m.; 9 a.m.; 12 noon

I appreciate Brick Patch's providing us this information. I agree with BA's comment about being grateful that more people weren't killed by Superstorm Sandy. I'd ask for prayers for those whose lives will never be the same and those of us who are struggling to re-build our lives.
