Aerial Photos, Videos: Point Boro, Point Beach, Inlet and More

Bob Alberding shot photos of roller coaster in ocean remotely using camera strapped to mini-copter

These photos and video of the River Avenue Beach in Point Borough, Manasquan Inlet, Point Beach, Lavallette, Manasquan, Asbury Park, the Barnegat Lighthouse and the Casino Pier area in Seaside Heights were shot by a camera strapped to a mini helicopter.

Specifically, area resident Bob Alberding had his camera strapped onto a "DJI 550 multirotor with custom camera gimbal added to it" as it soared above the beach and shot the Sandy-ravaged Casino Pier and the roller coaster famously bobbing in the ocean.

Explaining the benefits of his well-equipped copter soaring above the sea, Alberding said, "These are being used by film makers more because it is basically a camera jib with unlimited height and rotation."

And emphasizing his safety practices, he said he never flies over people. "I follow strict AMA guidelines respecting airspace including using scale LEDS and staying below 400ft and I am covered under AMA insurance."

Enjoy the birds eye view. And look closely as the video begins: you will see a shadow of the recreational copter on the sand as it rises into the sky.
