41 MPH Wind Gusts Reported Overnight, Wind Chill Below Zero in Brick

The National Weather Service reported 26 mph winds with gusts of 41 mph overnight in the Brick and Point Pleasant area, whipping around unsecured property and creating a wind chill of below freezing temperatures.

At one point the temperature with wind chill was -8 degrees in Ocean County, according to the NWS, and was forecast at -12 at daybreak.

The impending inclement weather sent school districts last night to preemptively call for a delayed opening this morning. Brick Township Schools, St. Dominic's in Brick and St. Peter's in Point Pleasant Beach each called for a 90-minute delay.

No major power outages had been reported as winds reached 38 mph gusts after midnight, according to Jersey Central Power & Light. The current power outage map is here.

Road reports include lane closures for scheduled construction through 6 a.m. on the Garden State Parkway in Wall for the shoulder widening project. Current road conditions can be found here.
