Seniors Partner with Girl Scouts for Service Project

Throughout the month of February, Harrogate’s Green Hat Society, which includes a dozen seasoned Girl Scouts, partnered with the Girl Scouts of Ocean and Monmouth Counties for a special project. The project is called the Have a Heart Campaign, aimed at replenishing the food pantry shelves at the House of Hope in Toms River.

The Harrogate Green Hat Society asked residents and staff (and the greater community) for donations to help restock the food pantry and get items to those in need. On February 21, The Green Hat Society and the Girl Scouts delivered their donations to the House of Hope. Harrogate was able to collect enough cans to fill four large boxes.

The Have a Heart Campaign is the Lakewood senior living community’s latest project with local Girl Scout troops. Starting in 2012, Harrogate has worked with the local Girl Scout troops on community service projects, cookie sales, and even their annual campout that was held at the senior living community last year.
