He jumped at the chance to get self-serving publicity, while Mayor Ducey actually did something about it. Thank you, mayor. It's nice to see that a Republican actually admits that a Democrat did something right!

Great, thump your chests advertising the lights are turned off! The only thing this does is give the heads up to all those that have a tendancy to run red lights that is is now ok to run red lights again in brick. He wasn't convinced it made driving safer? How does one discuss and evaluate something that didn't happen?
Resident February 19, 2014 at 09:12 AM
Something to think about as you go thru those intersections. The town took in $830,000 in ticket revenue. That means 9,764 people ran red lights in one year in those intersections knowing the cameras were there. ( while they were operational). Secondly, now the towns budget is going to lose that revenue, guess where they will make that up?
J.JONES February 19, 2014 at 02:26 PM
Wait and see more accidents will happen now when they realize lights are not there and the race to beat the light begins..Plus big lose of $$$ for the town to help with keeping taxes down ...I asked before did they do a real survey of accidents report with and without lights at all intersections in Brick give the real facts good or bad..

Give them time . They'll figure another way how to screw us.
gwyn lucas February 20, 2014 at 10:54 AM
thank heaven...now we don't have to play "chicken" at the traffic lights. it was awful.
Chief Wahoo February 20, 2014 at 11:16 AM
More likely, 64 ran a red light and 9,700 didn't stop completely while making a right on red.....also means $870,000 came out of the local taxpayers pockets and local economy with most of that going to a private corporation out West. How do the public takers expect to have their salaries, benefits and pensions paid when the taxpayers are broke?? Mortimer..time to wake up as your cheerleading of Red vs Blue is making you look very foolish.
Kim E February 20, 2014 at 12:53 PM
You are right Chief Wahoo, the $ 870,000 that was taken out of the economy was wasted when it given to the government and that private corporation. I stopped shopping near those lights. And Gwyn Lucas, I had to drive though 2 of those lights twice a day just to go to work and hated it. It WAS a game of chicken. When I came home late last night from work, they were taking the on near "Outback" down!! Whoo!!

"Thank you and keep up the good work..."
BrickAmericanMan February 20, 2014 at 04:43 PM
resident..your math is way off. that does not mean that 9000 people ran a red light. Many of them turned right on red and should never have gotten a ticket.

I would have preferred to have some roads paved.

NYC Dem Mayor increasing red light cameras and Ducey takes them out. I guess New York's police, safety people etc must not be a smart as Ducey and the Band of Bricks
J.JONES February 21, 2014 at 10:15 AM
Well stop at light at chamber bridge and Rt 70 waiting for light on 70 to turn red so yellow than red and two cars rush going threw red light ..gee what's the chances of that happening more now lets beat the light ..watch what happens now ..but those accidents will not be reported that would say it was maybe wrong move by mayor ..wait and see...TIME WILL TELL..
Chief Wahoo February 21, 2014 at 10:31 AM
The sheep seem nervous today. It's a dangerous world out there .

PISSED IN BRICK February 23, 2014 at 01:42 PM
I AGREE WITH RESIDENT.......I CAN'T WAIT TO SEE WHAT MY PROPERTY TAXES ARE GONNA BE NOW. ALSO WITH ALL THE SNOW WE HAD THIS YEAR...WAIT AND SEE THE EXCUSE'S THEY HAVE ABOUT TAXES AND HOW MUCH WAS SPENT IN SNOW REMOVAL AND OT FOR THE EMPLOYEES. BUT WHAT CRACKS ME UP IS WHAT HAPPENS WITH ALL THAT MONEY FROM LAST YEAR WHEN WE HAD SO LITTLE SNOW. WHERE DID ALL THAT SPARE MONEY GO THAT WASN'T USED. AND ALSO. IF WE IN BRICK HAD A SALT SHORTAGE BLAME IT ON THE IDIOTS THAT KEPT DUMPING TONS OF IT IN THE PARKING LOT OF THE BRICK CIVIC PLAZA ON SPRUCEWOOD DR. WHAT A JOKE. THEY PUT DOWN AND WASTED SO MUCH SALT THERE IT ACTUALLY LOOKED LIKE IT SNOWED ABOUT AND INCH OR 2. AND LAST...ALL THE IDIOTS THAT VOTED OUT THE 2% CAP ON TAXES. GEEE THAT WORKED WELL. TOWNSHIP SPENT TONS OF MONEY ON NEW TRUCKS AND THE COST OF SPENDING ON THE NEW RECYCLING CONTAINERS THAT ARE SO CHEAPER THAT CRAP PLASTIC...IT WAS ALL A SCARE TACTIC... ALL THIS MAKES NO SENSE. I CAN'T AFFORD TO DO ANY REPAIRS OR UPGRADES TO MY HOME. PUCHASED MY HOME FOR $290,000 AND AT THIS TIME MY AMOUNT LEFT ON MY MORGAGE IS APPROX. $210,000 AND WE TRIED TO REFINANCE... GEE.. I CAN'T BECAUSE THEY CLAIM MY HOME IN THIS AREA IS ONLY WORTH $168,000..WTF...AND MY TAXES GO UP AND UP. WONDER WHY PEOPLE WALK AWAY FROM THEIR HOMES AND MOVE OUT OF NJ. TOTAL BS !!!!!
J.JONES February 23, 2014 at 07:00 PM
Hey Pissed I agree with you and wait it will get worse in Brick just do the math they took away traffic lights and they didn't sell the liq. license so where with that lose of income to the town come from when budget is short hum ?? and the let lose some positions which I agree maybe one the right choice but they replace with friends and family democrat style and the take full pay and benefits with mayor and council and who will fight them on council no one cause they all are one sided now 8 democrats ..So they said they would collect on people who owe back taxes and fines hum they don't have the money that's why they owe it..lights and liq. license was a sure thing money in the bank...And sell the foodtown property we shouldn't be in the real estate business..
