Ok thats just ridiculous. What you to swear on?? "I, so-and-so do solemnly swear on this WaWa coffee cup...." Really??
Michael Cluff January 25, 2014 at 04:26 PM
Not as ridiculous as forcing a non-Christian to swear on a Bible. They'd be starting off their career with a lie right from the get-go.

Hey Lisa, That was a low blow!! WAWA's coffee is rather.. "Heavenly" Anyway, congratulations to our new Brick Police Officers! May God protect you as you serve and protect us..

Fire him then....sounds like we have some diversity on the police dept now.
Lisa Scalley January 28, 2014 at 06:46 PM
LOL @Richy Russo, I'm sorry my bad Hehe I agree I love WaWa's coffee. But my basic point was how is it an oath if you don't swear it on something holy. Since our Police dept LOVES WaWa I thought the cup could be something holy to swear on. @Michael Cluff Please get a sense of humor. I am a Christian but I don't shove it down other ppls throats but I was merely posing the question, since you want to be so defensively politically correct, is what would be holy enough to declare an oath to protect and serve?? Decaf Michael Decaf :)
Michael Cluff January 28, 2014 at 08:37 PM
Coffee would be a good start, though maybe something stronger than Wawa. And my bad, yeah, I should've switched to decaf before that post!

A new officer takes his/her oath without the Bible? Well, that's one less that St. Michael has to watch over. Meanwhile, congrats to all new Brick Police Officers!

what a joke, but the money they receives that says In God We Trust is OK to take. Sorry where is our PRIDE. THERE goes BRICK.
Tom S January 29, 2014 at 03:11 PM
What's next, court they make you swear on a bible. Maybe we get rid of the American flag, get rid of the song GOD Bless America and get rid of the Pledge of allegiance. What a joke.

Thank GOD we now have more police to patrol the shopright parking lot.
A January 29, 2014 at 05:44 PM
Good for him. Not everyone believes in "the bible". I would choose not to swear on it as well.
MOONPOOL January 29, 2014 at 07:00 PM
How about swearing to the constitution and just up holding it. They violate the constitution and the state constitution every day. When they take their oath to it .
Vincent Muti January 29, 2014 at 10:41 PM
