Dangerous Driving Abound: Are Our Kids Safe Anymore?

Yes disasters sure do make for the kind of headline that we never want to see or read about, ever again. Almost every week we see in the newspapers or on TV an accident involving a school bus. I want to know why? Just today, on TV, June 18th, 2012 I observed an accident involving a yellow people mover overturned in NYC, with injuries. I also noticed two more accidents involving these buses in various parts of our country and I am furious concerning the amount of incidents that happen while our precious cargo gets transported. It has to cease, immediately.

Why is it that nobody has mentioned the reckless attitude by a small minority of drivers who bring shame on all other abiding employees? Give a glance at your vehicles speedometer and observe the speed you are traveling the next time a yellow vehicle passes you because you will be surprised and should be angry. They must slow down and observe the posted speed limit.

I am a retired paid Firefighter Captain, 27 years and informed that "we were not the king of the road," and that we were to observe all traffic lights and intersections with caution. This was to get there safely in order to do the task we were being paid to do, with safety. Is there another reason for our children to be transported in a supposedly unsafe manner? Why all the hurry?

I had a conversation with the Brick BOE Transportation Director, Joseph Sangiovanni and I was informed of all the  safety equipment installed on our buses recently, and liked learning about the concern we have, here in Brick, for our most precious commodity being taught  by the teachers, while in school. Lets get the kids here in one piece by performing defensive driving.

sangiovanni lied to you, Iam a school bus driver here & our buses are VERY unsafe, whenever possible I have my own children get rides other ways because I KNOW how unsafe they are... shame of him for misinforming you & only tell you what he wants you to know & report... kids are are risk everyday on our school buses... many times Not even enough sets on the bus for everyone, leaving kids to sit on the floor, we may say something, but it falls on deaf ears.... sometimes told " there just isnt enough $$ in the budget," REALLY when BOE memebers making 150k Plus... wonder what kinda package Sangiovanni is sitting on?

Somebody should tell FOREAL that there is a difference between a paid employee and A BOE member. After the mistakeabove, I feel that the truth was tainted concerning the safety of the kids.

If you make a mistake or typo on one of Bozo's posts, he will not only correct you, he will bash you and try to make you feel small and insignificant. Do not let this bully push you around. We all understood what you meant, it was ART's intentions to water down your comments by pointing our the small error in your paragraph.

Don't let this race baiting senior fool you. He has the ability to flag, delete and report all posts, and he does it according to a strict agenda. Notice how many of his blogs do not have a consistent conversation. He deletes all and any that try to expose him. It's like shining a flashlight on a roach.

All I can say is try not to make a typo in your comments or that will become the focus of his future rants and conversations with you. He has already tried baiting me into calling him and home so he can FIGHT me. What a real idiot.

To much is wasted on salaries the average bus driver in Brick makes $23,000 after 10 years of service the average diesel mechanic in Brick makes less then $26,000 to start. Joseph Sangiovanni after 4 years makes over $100,000.
In defense of Mr. Sangiovanni all the buses in the district have enough seat belts for all the children riding the buses. There are no students sitting on the floors unless they did this without the driver knowing. All the buses have a GPS they are tracked there speed can be and is checked. Some of our buses need to be replaced and they are new equipment is added every year. Our drivers are open to random drug testing and are tested at least two times a year unlike, teachers, administrators and bus aids and Para’s. The bus garage does a wonderful job even better now that someone who knows what they are doing is in charge. They do the best they can being unable to hire the most qualified mechanics at what they are paying. The buses are inspected by the State Of NJ every six months for safety if a issues are found they are repaired that day. The noise you hear as a bus stops on your street my sound unsafe but be rest assured that the driver of that bus has had them checked they are air brakes and sound different then the brakes on your car. The Bus drivers of Brick Township are professional drivers who take the safety of our children very seriously

Mrs, Smith to ague with you, but that JUST ISNT true... about the seat belts & Seats They do not have enough of either on all of the buses... Agree the bus drivers & aides to the best job possible with the condtions given. About the state checking them every 6 months... Reallly ? the same state that desides its a good idea to register your car every year that just a money making trick as is most of the " Dept of NJ" I have a Very close friend who is a bus driver for brick & she will make every arragement possible for her kids NOT to ride on the buses because she knows 1st hand how unsafe they are... Most obvious is the over crowed buses ...
On a bus issue WHY are they so many stops within yards of eachother??? the best is the stops accross from Outback I think there are 3 or 4 stops just for those apts ?? whats up with that??

There are laws that protect people who bring to light unsafe conditions, if your friend believes that the bus is unsafe than she should not drive it and that’s the LAW, it is the responsibility of the driver to see to the safety of the bus DOT regs and the LAW I don’t believe your friend is truth full! I have a CDL A and the law is that the safety of the vehicle is the responsibility of the driver not the school board, not the town but the driver! Your friend is BSing you!

Really Bcz I have 3 kids that all take the bus & if they do not get on the closer stop & waits to get to the last stop there are no seats.... my daughter will be a Sr.. this coming Sept & has had that issue since freshman Yr, I have called the school & seem to ( like you) NOT believe its happening... The buses Driver value their jobs & many that is the only income they have coming in to keep their bills paid, their NOT going to be a "RAT" Or rock the boat for the amount of money they are getting paid, they are just going to shut their months & do their routes ....Ive personally called the School Adm. building many times for the over crowding but nothing has been done...
