A high-achieving soccer team from the local area was honored by the Brick Township Council on Tuesday evening, after a very successful season that led them to be designated as one of the top-ranked squads in the nation.
The female roster of Twin County Real Magic U15 all accepted proclamations from the council, with governing body members Rob Moore and Joseph Sangiovanni leading the proceedings.
“The Real Magic’s outstanding season includes capturing second place in the NJYS National Championship Series, a state cup, and second place at the U.S. Club Soccer of New Jersey Competition. These achievements, as well as the dedication and effort of the players and coaches, have helped the Real Magic climb to be the 23rd ranked team in the entire nation,” said Moore.
Sangiovanni then read from a proclamation on behalf of Mayor Stephen Acropolis, who was not present for the awards portion of the meeting.
“I hereby proclaim Wednesday, June 27, 2012, to be Twin County Soccer U15 Real Magic Day,” said Sangiovanni, in recognition of the team’s “outstanding season” and “appreciation of their exemplary representation of our community on the field of play.”
Players receiving proclamations at the meeting included Erika Pita, Kylee Jazikoff, Madison Farley, Samantha Netterman, Ciara Korber, Devin Diedrich, Cassie Ecklof, Jenna Wallace, Jacquie Glass, Olivia Nazzaro, Julia Kirkpatrick, Samantha Lederle, Katherine Schmidt, Jacqueline Ker, Ana Marie Mastrokalos, Nicole San Fillippo, and Danielle Harter. They were accompanied at the meeting by their coaches, Kevin Farley, Steve Kirkpatrick and Mike Lyons.
