President Obama was very presidential, knew his facts since he is commander in chief. Mitt Romney was off his game and backed track and flip flopped on many issues and agreed with the Pres. on the rest. Very poor showing, is this how he would act with foreign leaders, go with the wind and then change his opinion and therefore who knows what he would do? I see big trouble with Mitt Romney at the helm.

I disagree about Obama being "very presidential".. The world leaders have lost respect for our president and America has lost traction in the last four years as being the a world power. Hard to respect a president whose capaign is build around Romney bashing. If Obama wins, this country will have a slim chance of recovering from an economic point of view. The people must vote for what we need in this country. Jobs and a stimulated economy. Romney is willing to bring political parties together to do what is best for our country. Obama will continue to force big govermment down our throats.. America should wake up and not accept mediocre at best. Obama ran out of ideas, period. He looks lost, not "very presidential"...

Obama should have lost all respect when he bowed to King Abdallah and Emperor Akihito, an all time low for an American president. Then there was his worldwide apology tour, which should have erased any remaining vestige of respect.
But as long as some of the sheeple can get free stuff they will vote for him.
Just a reminder, John Kennedy made a statement in his inaugural speech;

And both are on their knees asking Israel what orders they have to issue to us as far as who we must bomb and invade. Last night i checked out all the cable networks for post event coverage. Fox had several democrats and spent time highlighting the good and bad of both candidates and did it from the floor so they could cut back to the post debate interviews. CNN had a four person panel all talking and laughing over one another so that you couldn't hear the subject. MSNBC had Maddow and some guy pointing out all of Romney's faults. When you see how the main cable news outlets handle an event you dont wonder why Fox is on top.

And if anyone on here whether your for Obama or against Obama does not see that our Economy is in terrible condition is blind and ignorant to the facts. what needs to be determined before we can move any further is how is it the USA will be viewed. Are we a capitalistic-socialistic society or are we socialistic-capitalistic society?
There are people who want socialism to come first before capitalism and there are others who want capitalism to come first. Once we figure out in which direction this country is heading, then hopefully something will fall into place.
IMO,we should drop the socialism aspect of our society and focus back on the capitalistic, private business and industry aspect that has alway driven this country upward and forward. Socailism does nothing to promote growth,it only encourages weakness and lack of upward mobility.

He did not imply that bayonets are no longer used by our troops, he mocked Romney rather severely regarding Romney's thinking that more ships and planes are necessary will make our country safer.
“Governor, we also have fewer horses and bayonets because the nature of our military's changed. We have these things called aircraft carriers where planes land on them. We have these ships that go underwater, nuclear submarines,” he said. “And so the question is not a game of Battleship where we're counting ships. It's — it's what are our capabilities.”
Wars are no longer fought the way they once were. Time has passed you by Jarhead.

NJ Jarhead - I agree with you and thank you for your service to our country. Gov Romney conducted himself like a statesman. Obviously, many people don't know how the military works or they wouldn't have thought that Obama's rude, condescending, juvenile and pointless statements were factual. If we continue to undermine our military and cut funds which will be needed to continue to transform our military technologically, we will be in dire straits. He obviously doesn't know how the Navy operates either. Planes do not do have the same mission as Naval warships in the execution of war or monitoring our shorelines and by the way, O is also cutting the Air Force. Additionally, I think Mr. O needs a geography lesson since the world is 3/4 Ocean. It's not worth fighting with these small minded dopes who act like they know anything about military operations, safety and protection of our freeedoms, which they have for so long taken for granted, or the looming international threats. All they care about is when the next hand-out will be.

suz - Our commander in chief didn't just screw cup - he, along with Clinton, Rice, and Axelrod bold faced lied about the events and who was responsible. The Red Cross and Great Britian pulled out of Libya one month before the attack. Our CIC pulled all American security out in August. Question is, why didnt an American Ambassador have any security in a contry known to be hostile to Americans?
Moreover, an innocent man - the maker of the video in question, still sits in jail and isn't schedule for a hearing until after the election.
Ambassador Stevens wasn't 'carried to the hospital by his friends,' as Hillary Clinton said. He was sodomized before AND after death. As we have learned, Obama, Biden, Panetta and Clinton watched the events as they happened in real time, courtesy of our Drone. More importantly, the drone was armed, yet our CIC never issued the order to fire.

Romney confused me a littel bit. He stated he would pour investments into research and think tanks (which is terrific) -- but not companies. He also stated he wanted to balance trade with China, increasing our exports there. Now, companies are what take the research to fruition -- products and services. So if you heavily invest in research but not business that can turn that research into products and services, how will American business -- and thus exports -- grow?
I'm probably way off base, but if someone can help me figure this out, I would really appreciate it. Sorry if I sound ignorant!

I was waiting for Obama to speak the truth of the reason for his so called "apology" tour. Our government hasbeen medling in almost all third world countries business by inserting and supporting evil and cruel dictators so our rich can exploit their natural resources and their people for monetary gain. We, as citizens, should admit this once and for the good of us all world wide and go on repentive tour apologizing for letting this happen as we were and are still asleep at the wheel. Time to grow up Americans. Confess our nations since loudly and get over this "we are the holy ones because might has made us right" b.s.

Other than brief convention bounces, this is the first time either candidate has led by more than three points in months. See daily tracking history.

I presume we all know that united we stand; divided we fall. Well, we are a nation divided and falling rapidly. Maybe I missed it, but I haven't heard President Obama once say anything about working together with those across the political party lines. Not only have I heard Mr. Romney say it on many occasions, but he DID IT as Governor of Massachusetts. Please do look up his record. Remember when Massachusetts used to be called "Taxachusetts"? Not so anymore. The truth is, our country's economy is "big business", and we need someone who has succeeded at that, and Mr. Romney has. He has a proven track record. President Obama has had 4 years to stabilize our economy, when he promised change, and the only changes I've seen are gas prices, real estate taxes, utility bills, etc.; all of which have gone up during his term while salaries have stayed the same, gone down, and for some disappeared altogether. How does that boost our economy? People need money to spend in order to maintain even a stable economy. As far as the President looking and sounding "very Presidential" last night is not a reason to vote for him. (It just means he had a better coach since the first debate.) Go to their individual track records before making your decision. I hope you won't vote for someone who makes a lot of promises when he/she needs your vote and then doesn't keep those promises once elected. I've fallen for that one too many times. Good luck everyone, and God willing, may the best man win!

Hey, our foreign policy of the 1980's, social policy of the 1950's and economic policy of the 1920's actually worked quite well.
The 20s were boom times, the 50s brought about civil rights (even though the Dems fought it) and the 80s brought about the downfall of the Iron Curtain.

Maybe the foreign policies worked in the 80's but the world is not the same as it was in the 80's. Foreign policy needs to keep up with the times. Allies abandon Allies, political leaders and governments in other places change, and enemies change tactics all over the world.
As for social policies of the 50's... well as a woman I don't want to go back to the 50's thanks anyway. I prefer to be treated like an equal in all areas of life. WYTAW - I think I may have confused you... I don't disagree with you, except for the term limits. It can work against you when you have someone who really is doing a good job. It would also encourage too much corruption (not like there isn't enough already!) but if politicians know they are only going to serve one term, they are going to take whatever money they can get their hands on and run. Mattie - I hope you will do your research before you vote. Parroted responses from what you heard at the debate last night will not serve you or the rest of the country well when you vote - just like voting for someone based on the fact that he "looked and sounded very Presidential" last night. If that were the case, then George Clooney should be President! Even if you decide to vote for President Obama, please do complete AND unbiased research before making your decision. Think about what you life was like 4 years ago, do you have a better job, are you paying less for gas (and if you are, please share), have your utility bills gone down, taxes gone down? And if you're a homeowner, has your real estate value gone up in the past 4 years?

Happy to answer that Dee. I am very informed, thanks.
Yes, Personally, we (husband and I) are better off than 4 yrs ago.
Here is just One example:
Thanks to Obama my husband (VN vet- 2 purple hearts) finally won a 30 yr battle with the Veteran's Administration and got his well deserved and long awaited 100% disability rating. Did you read that? 30 YEAR BATTLE with the VA. Up until Obama was elected he only managed to squeeze out a measly 50% disability rating... and that took 25 yrs, MANY appeals, and crawling through 10% increment raises.
Obama signed three major bills concerning the VA since he took office that changed things drastically for my husband.
Republicans (Romney) are looking for way to cut back funds, reduce services and increase health insurance co-pays for vets. Obama has been and will continue to be very much behind vets and their issues upon returning home wounded and damaged and needing help in all sorts of ways.
I don't like Romney, I don't believe in his extreme right wing policies, but neither am I blind to Obama's short comings either. He's not a "god" in my book. I am waaaay left of Obama and wish he was more radical and more liberal than he actually is- because face it - He's a Centrist. But I will take those teeny tiny baby steps of progress and new ideas over Republican Regression any day of the week.
I was GLAD Obama so succinctly summed up Romney the way he did. I'm not parroting, I'm agreeing- there is a difference.

Oh and let's not forget that Romney believes Veterans are part of that 47% of Americans who are all lazy, irresponsible, no-tax-paying, "dependent" on government Losers.
My husband served his country and came home a damaged wreck, physically and emotionally -- yet for all his adult life STILL managed to work very hard, paid his taxes, provided for his family, and was a good American citizen.
I also worked hard outside the home, besides raising 3 kids while my husband was putting in 50-70 hours per week at work. I resent being called a loser by Romney. We PAID INTO those systems that help us all in old age.

You have a right to your opinion! I assume after reviewing all the comments that many posters are merely venting after the debate. This is no problem because, for one reason or another they are not eligible to vote on November 6. I also find it difficult have any credence in the opinions of individuals that for some reason or another must hide their true identity behind a pseudonym or moniker as a cloaking device, but that is their right to do so. I look at Romney; he seems intelligent, gives a good presentation but he has never had to count his pennies before he got to the register. He will never know what that 47% feels. It has to be something one has to experience, not something you read in a book and learn. He has lived a plush life. One thing he doesn't know how to do is "add". Obama is correct, his numbers do NOT add up.

Mattie - First I thank your husband for his service. I have a son-in-law who served two tours in Iraq, as did his brother; both captains in the Army. I also had a cousin (deceased) who was a recipient of the Bronze Star for his service in Vietnam. So I am very connected to the feelings and issues of veterans' families. But truth be told, and I'm not saying this is the case with your husband, there are too many people (and many of them non-citizens) on all sorts of government assistance payrolls, who really don't need to be there. Do you honestly believe there isn't a large percentage (and I can't confirm if it's 47%) of people who are abusing "the system"? There are without question people who need the assistance and people who know how to manipulate the system - and as you say, "there is a difference..." Governor Romney wants to get those people off of the government assistance payrolls, as they should be, and increase jobs to make these people dependent on themselves and not the hard-working taxpayers. And, as a side note, not to diminish the fact that you and your husband have worked hard and raised 3 children, but you haven't walked in my shoes either, and I promise, you wouldn't want to. I respect your right to your opinion and choice, and hope that whatever happens on election day, we will all be better off than we have been the past 4 years.

Mr. Blasi - So, as long as someone agrees with you, they have a right to their opinion. You make a lot of assumptions about people, i.e., hiding behind monikers, not being eligible to vote, etc. without knowing these people. I do not hide behind a moniker, and I am (and have been for a very long time) eligible and ready to vote. If I'm wrong about you, then I can only presume that you are a close member of the Romney family since you know so much about how he has lived his life, you know, "not having to count pennies" and all that. Look into the real (not the media spun) backgrounds of Michele and Barack and see how they have lived their lives; talk about not counting pennies! And, keep in mind "plush" lifestyle that we have just provided to them on our "pennies". My comments have been respectful and truthful, and your stance of being insulting instead of respectfully debating with someone is just plain distasteful. I do have a question though, when did it become a "crime" and detriment to be wealthy in this country if you're running for office. I hear the younger generation use this phrase a lot, and I think this might be an appropriate time for me to use it... "don't be a hater".
Mattie

Thank you for your respectful reply, Dee. I appreciate it.
But to believe that the answer to most or all our economic woes is to cut (poor) people off at the knees by cutting back funding on social programs like SS, SSD, welfare, food stamps, etc, is wrong thinking. To believe that 'so many' illegal immigrants are collecting welfare, food stamps or medicaid while "legitimately poor" people in this country go without, is just completely erroneous.
Now, I'm not saying there is NEVER any abuse or fraudulent people taking advantage, but the reality is that number is waaaaay too small to be overly concerned about. Ever go into the Toms River welfare or food stamp office? I know people who work there, and have for years... they don't see more black people than white people, nor see more Latino people than white people.
Illegals can NOT get food stamps or welfare without acceptable, LEGAL IDs and paperwork for everyone in the household. There is no rampant abuse of the welfare system by illegals. There just isn't. It is a fabricated 'issue' much like the voter fraud issue. It simply does not exist. These are right wing ultra conservative talking points used for fear and blame.
Our country is not in the shape it's in today because of poor people. It's in this shape because of the policies of Bush's 8 yrs of mismanagement & wars ... I refuse to blame Americans for the mismanagement by Republican politicians & the corporations and lobbyists that fund them. YMMV

All well and good on what your opinion is Mattie, but the TR area does NOT have a lot of blacks or latino's to begin with...I come from Union County and also know people who work in these offices and the MAJORITY (yes majority) of them are black and latino's who can but won't work and take advantage of the programs that the government has to offer. Yes, granted, a hell of a lot of people need these programs, but only MORE since Obama has been in office. The last four years have been just horrible for most of us, so why listen to more promises from someone who did not deliver? Mattie you and others keep attacking the 2 wars.....didn't the money go to our troops, supplies, weapons, etc? You act like it was burned by Allah and did nothing. If we didn't spend that, all those jobs would be lost.
As for mismangement, please provide some stats. In 2008, the budget deficit was 450B. Today its triple that. If Bush mismanaged, Obama cooked the books.
The Democrats controlled the Senate and House as of 1/1/07 so even if what you say is true, how did the 2007 and 2008 budgets get passed??? They got passed by DEMOCRATS. I know Democrats like to blame everyone else but you cannot hide from the facts.
Obama complained about the debt and spending in 08 and everyone was like HELL YEAH HE'S RIGHT!!!!! SO WHAT DID HE DO???? THE SAME EXACT THING!!!!

It's long past do for a revolt to gain the power we were supposed to have by being represented by ourselves, not lying lawyers presently doing so. They have read all the books and know how to twist and distort, basically out right lying, the information (bs) we keep buying. wake up americans. we've got the our rights so we can revolt. We thank all veterans for their service. But, how does someone work 50 -70 hours a week and then get 100% disability from the VA? I'll have to see if my dad is eligible. He's a Marine Corps, (Hey Barrack the "ps" is silent!), Korean war vet with a John Kerry type purple heart. The kind you get without spending any time in the hospital. Kerry had 3 of them. My father doesn't talk about the war much as don't most combat vets. He hates Obama.
If Obama was so concerned about the military why is he cutting 2 trillion from their budget? Money Leon Panetta wants. And another thing, does Obama, a complete loser before politics (a community organizer? As Giuliani said" what the hell is that? ) have the right to be so condescending after Mitt's navy fact? B Hussein stating we now have aircraft carriers and nuclear submarines. Both by the way are part of the navy! Actually helping Mitt make his point.

Voter fraud? Not in this country.
Last week I got an email from MoveOn.com that provided me a chance to register to vote, online. Okay, I've been a registered voter since 1965 but they wanted me to register.
I looked through the form. All I needed to supply was a name, email address and a local address.
No SSN, driver's licence number or other form of ID.
I thought about registering using my greatgrandfather's name since he hasn't voted since the 1880s, but well you know,

in 2007, we had full unemployment, a budget deficit of $150 B and record income tax revenues. From the recession caused by 9/11 the economy grew. In the summer of 2007. Who was complaining. House values up. Stock market up. Was Bush responsible for any of those good times or just the bad stuff?
In 2008, Obama railed against Bush and the spending and the debt. OK, many bought into it.
So why today do we spend more than at any time under Bush and the deficit is 3x as large as under Bush. How did the debt grow $5 Trillion in these 3.75 years.
Obama said he wanted the job. You gave it to him. He said hold him accountable. Let's do it. He sucks. He failed. Admit it. Let's solve the problem of TOO MUCH SPENDING

Oh momere I don't think anyone has forgotten the Bush era at all. I'm a little surprised you think that was the beginning of destroying our country. If you weren't around during the Kennedy administration, and before, maybe you should ask people who were. Seriously, get their opinions on WWII, Korea, civil unrest, Vietnam war and the Cuban Missile Crisis. The fact is, there will always be issues good and bad about every Presidential administration, but if you stay focused only on the bad, you will never, learn, grow and prosper. Governor Romney has committed to work across the political parties, which he did in the state of Massachusetts, so I believe he means it, knows how to do it and will do it. We are so divided politically as a nation and it's mostly because of the divisiveness the media and parties perpetuate. A united nation requires compromise and acceptance on both sides. The more people dig their heels in; not willing to budge, the more divided we become, and that's not good for any of us. Domestic policy is crucial for us as individuals, and Foreign policy is crucial for us as a world leader. Electing a President to take charge of these issues should only be done on a truthful, proven track record of experience AND results. Instead of people watching Real Housewives of NJ or The Jersey Shore (and I'm not saying you do), they should spend time watching C-SPAN. That's where you'll see and hear for yourself what our elected officials are really saying and doing.

Since I'm 60 plus yrs, lived through those times you mentioned there's no need to ask anyone anything! My father served 20 plus years in the Navy, My Ex served 20 years in the Army and I worked 30 years for the Army. As a Civil Servant (Retired) I think I'm pretty in tune with the Government bureaucracy. With that said, if people really knew how the “good old boys club” really works in Washington they’d work non-stop to clean up the Congress and Senate who really have the power. They are like little boys in a Sandbox not wanting to share their toys. Do you really think they’re going to work any better with Romney? Actually, they might (if they can control his arrogance and since of entitlement) but time will tell.
I just watched a documentary on the Koch Brothers and they gave me a flash back (to my years working) as to how Corporate America and Government actually work hand in hand against the poor and middle class. If Romney does get elected I’m sure he’ll spend the next 4 years flip flopping and blaming Obama for a mess that started way before he took office. It would be nice if they could all just get along! No matter who is in office. Guess since they are all rich it’s easier to continue getting richer and blaming each other for a mess they really don’t want to clean up! Like I said, time will tell.

I felt like, you know he offered me a job five minutes into the debate, I felt like his answer was sincere,” Epstein said. “And then when the president came up, I felt like he, you know he started up by saying my future’s bright — I feel like they were both sincere. They talked very well, eloquently, and I felt they both gave good answers.”
His interaction with the candidates quickly sparked a wave of discussion about him on social media, with the hashtag #jeremy trending before the debate was over.
Epstein said he also spoke to both candidates after the debate. He said Romney thanked him for the question.
“I asked him if he’s gonna give me that job in two years and he said ‘Maybe,’” Epstein said. “Then I was speaking with President Obama asking how his Chicago Bulls are gonna do, because they lost their MVP Derek Rose, and he said that I could not beat him in one-on-one, but I disagree with that.”

And for those of you getting a paycheck, are your tax deductions less than they were 4 years ago? If anyone can say "yes" to all of these questions, please let me know, I'd like to move in with you... And finally, If your boss promised you a better job, better healthcare, a better salary, etc., and every year for 4 years blamed someone else for not coming through for you, would you nominate him/her to be President of the company? Or, if you hired an employee because he/she promised to increase business revenue, get better health insurance rates for all employees, etc., and every year for 4 years blamed someone else for not being able to do his/her job, would you promote him to President of your company?

Mattie, Regarding your claim of illegals not using entitlements available to U.S. citizens. You are 1/2 right. Illegals can not collect things like food stamps, cash grants, medicaid, etc. However, illegals with children almost always have these children after they come into the U.S. Few enter with small children. So their children are eligible for everything. The parent is not on the grant but can come in apply for and manage entitlements. So an illegal mom with 3 kids would get food stamps for 3 instead of 4 people. Then there is public education. All illegal children receive "free" schools. Then any child or adult can go to the E.R. room for medical services. BTW, I have no problem with any of the above. But I don't like the left's phony claims regarding entitlements and certainly understand the concerns of those who are burdened by left's never ending quest to be everything to everybody.
I know what I'm talking about. I have 32+ years as a social worker dealing with these programs and the population they are supposed to help.
The real abuse is from generations of U.S. citizens enslaved by the system and Obama expanding programs by relaxing requirements. Which I'm sure they will thank him for on election day. These are the people Romney was talking about.

FACT: Southern Democrats, with no endorsement by the Republican Party, supported the formation and continuity of the Ku Klux Klan. Nathan Bedford Forrest, a Confederate officer, was a Democrat and the first leader of the KKK.
FACT: Democrats used the KKK in the South as a terrorist organization to kill, injure, and harass freed slaves who were granted full citizenship under the 13th and 14th Amendment.
FACT: Democrats in the House and Senate overwhelmingly opposed the 13th and 14th Amendment.
FACT: Democrat Woodrow Wilson, as President of Princeton University REFUSED to support African Americans to attend Princeton University.
FACT: Democrat Woodrow Wilson, as President of United States, gave overt and public support to D.W. Griffith's racist film, "Birth of a Nation". The film portrayed the KKK as heros that protected the South from freed slaves.
FACT: Democrat Woodrow Wilson, as President of United States, refused to recognize African Americans as people deserving of human rights recognition.
FACT: Democrat Woodrow Wilson, as President of United States, instituted massive, sweeping segregation withing the federal government against African Americans. His policies fostered "Jim Crow" laws across federal, state, and local governments -- thus unraveling the civil rights legislation championed by the Republican Party.

Hey, any Libertarian voters out there...
Gary Johnson closed out the debate amongst the non-mainstream candidates with this unintelligible phrase:
“Wasting your vote is voting for somebody that you don’t believe in. That’s wasting your vote. I’m asking everybody here, I’m asking everybody watching this nationwide to waste your vote on me.”
I'm sure he meant something other than what he actually said but it's ironic that he said exactly what he would deny and what many others assert, that a vote for Gary is a wasted vote. Comments?

Yes,Im voting for Gary. He was being sarcastic, If you believe in someones principles you are not wasting your vote. So in effect, according to mainextreamists (I just coined that phrase, thank you) if you have principles and vote those principles your wasting your vote. When the reality of it is quite the opposite. It was awesome he put it that way. BTW,If you were watching the 3rd party debate you're part of the solution not part of the problem. All cool peeps out there, Uncle Moe, Jenny Jones and the rest of the folks who are awake on the patch follow me on twitter @2rollinstoned

Well Mattie -- Someone made the comment that my posts documenting (with solid facts) Democrats to 100 years of racist practices (against African Americans) and 60 years of borderline misogynistic practices (blocking the right of women to vote) was not true.
Are you saying I am posting lies?

Here's one for you Mattie:
* Would you challenge my claim that the American clergy played a significant role in the American Revolution -- thus turning the Democrats efforts to erase the Christian roots of American government on its head?

John- the clergy and the medical profession played a roll in the American Revolution. I can't recall the name of a minister who was Samuel Adams mentor up in Boston. . .and I don't recall Adams preaching the Gospel back then either. . .nor was Thomas Paine, writing some of the most famous political doctrines America has ever created, in which Washington read one of them to his troops in 1776. . . Maybe you can enlighten us?

I'm wondering how much John Jay gets paid per posting. Apparently quantity outweighs content when it comes WHAT he posts. He's been very busy around the Patch/es these last few weeks -- must be adding to his future Medicare vouchers....
I've been told the going rate is 5 - 10 cents a post. I guess it adds up, right?

Engaging in personal attacks against me, Mattie? The moderator/editor of the Patch doesn't like that.

Why do Democrats here deny the KKK was formed by Southern Democrats? The Southern Democrat/KKK alliance was used to terrorize freed slaves and Republicans involved in Reconstruction and the enforcement of the Republican-backed 13th and 14th Amendment.

1) People are engaging in personal attacks against me here. I am entitled to reply in any manner that falls within the Patch's policy.
2) You're neither the moderator of what gets posted here nor my keeper...I just thought I'd remind you of your status.

That wasn't nice, Mattie... we all have our opinions, politically, but insulting each other because of our opinions doesn't change anything. Since no one has responded to the questions of lower gas prices, lower real estate taxes, lower tax deductions on paychecks, lower utility prices, lower health care costs, and increased home values; all over the past 4 years, I can only presume that the answer is "no", and yet many of you are willing to re-elect the same person to another 4 years after reeling back on all of his campaign promises 4 years ago. Finger pointing and blaming previous administrations for the problems, doesn't fix the problems. It's time to fix the problems and stop whining about them. If I hired an employee based on what they promised to do and what his/her resume projected about them, and after 4 years didn't perform up to those promises and instead blamed others for their lack of performance, that person would be let go. All the historical and "factual" rhetoric doesn't mean anything - we're in the here and now, deal with it. If you are willing to climb your way out of your political party entrenchments, maybe you'll find today's reality. BTW, I'm a registered Democrat...

Better still, Dee, if you were a business owner and hired an executive to help your ailing company and they simply managed to bury it further into debt with no plan to resurrect it, I'd think you'd look to replace that person. I'm not quite sure why our standards are so low and expectations even lower for our President. The nation that I live in is one that ought not embrace failure. I sometimes wonder if my fellow countrymen aren't hurting enough. Maybe $7/gallon for gas and a national sales tax on EVERYTHING (like in Germany) at 19% is what we need as a wake-up call. Quite frankly, I think we deserve better and I'm glad you do too.

Dee- as for gas prices...that's somewhat misleading, because in 2008 before Obama got elected and the economy caved, gas prices were up there, and the price of a barrel of crude was $147 a barrel in July '08. Today it's around $90...

...as for lower taxes on pay checks, the President and Congress lowered the payroll tax.
utility prices have come down too. . .maybe you should look into an alternate supplier outside of NJ.
Home values are starting to recover, with increasing sales and reductions in foreclosures.

Spooner - have you seen the commercial on television, where the girl tells the guy about something she read and believed because it was on the internet, and that because it was on the internet it was "true" - because she read that on the internet too? Then her date "a French model she met on the internet" shows up, and he's a slug who can barely pronounce "bon jour". What I'm saying is don't just use the internet stats that you can pick and choose from to support your claims. Do the in-depth research over the past 8 years, year for year. (I have a research PhD, so it's my thing.) But anyone can do a little (well really a lot of) digging in all of the unbiased resource repositories, and when you put the pieces of those puzzles together, you will find your information is absolutely incorrect. Carefully manipulated smoke screens provided by so-called reliable internet and media outlets can be a very dangerous thing! It takes a lot of effort to dig down to the truth, and most people don't want to be bothered with that because it's too time consuming so they "ass-u-me" what they pick off the internet or hear on most of their TV screens is the "truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth"... I suggest you read the book "The Tack Racket - Government Extortion from A-Z" by Martin L. Gross; not so much because I believe it's the gospel truth - I can't say that for sure - but just to start a thought process that may encourage you to delve deeper into fact checking.
