Two Taken to Hospital Following Point Boro Fire

'Heavy smoke conditions' reported

Two people were taken to the hospital for injuries that are not severe following a fire on Oak Road in Point Pleasant Borough earlier this evening.

Point Borough Fire Chief Daniel Mulligan said the department was dispatched to a fire with "heavy smoke" conditions around 7 p.m.

Fire companies from Herbertsville, Point Beach, and Laurelton, as well as Point Boro First Aid Squad members responded.

As fire crews were responding to Oak Road, an alarm sounded on a home on Pocahontas Avenue, but there was no fire at the address, Mulligan said.

The Ocean County fire marshall's office was investigating the Oak Road fire this evening; Mulligan noted heavy smoke damage to the first floor.
