Township Offices Closed Monday

Public works pickup will be delayed

The township municipal complex on Chambers Bridge Road will be closed Monday in observance of Dr. Martin Luther King Day.

There will be no public works collection – trash or recycling – and residents' collections will be one day late for the remainder of the week.

Brick schools are open Monday, but have an early dismissal (half day) for students. Students will be let out at their school's assigned early dismissal time.

Your typical useless response that I expected. Why don't you send the Council Pres. a request to be on the Budget Advisory Committee? Tht way at least you would be informed with facts instead of innuendo.

Topps

I try to see positive in everyone and everything. Perhaps the Chief's attitude is due to frustration and a lack of understanding of the process and the rules and regulation that go into creating a budget. I only want to educate him and all who care to know, so they have an understanding of the process. Yes you can cut expenditures, but not without service cuts. Yes you can utilize more revenue and surplus, but not without jeopardizing the fiscal future. It happens at all levels and all budgets, not just Brick's.

the fiscal future , are you kidding !!!!!!!!.......The future is HERE NOW

What the heck is a surplus for ????......if Sandy wasnt a RAINY DAY, then there is no such thing !!!!

Not frustrated , just sad to see people cannot keep up with their expenses and they are scared and have no idea why......and i blame people like you , who say cutting services is not allowed

A budget was presented in 2012 that cut 0ver $8,000,000. The people still wanted the services that would have been impacted. I never said cutting services wasn't allowed, but is evident that it will not be accepted by the majority of Brick's residents.

So blame away, but the offer still remains to get involved instead of complaining on the computer behind a fictitious screen name.

Stop The Gluttony in Brick Township

1:02 pm on Wednesday, January 23, 2013

Scott, can you please answer this....
When the whole issue of the mayor & other council members "double dipping" & holding two or more jobs came up, the chairperson of the TWU & employee of DPW, (Mr. Menshon) lead the way to save our services, stop double dipping, etc... It is my understanding that he is working for the union now but still receiving pay & benefits from the township. Is this true? And if so, is that double dipping? If he is working for the union & not the DPW, I don't believe he should be getting benefits or pay from my tax dollars. He should be getting that from the union, right? And if it is true, that makes him a huge hypocrite!! Thank you advance for answering this.

Topps-No comment on the behavior of the Mayor at the Council meetings? He acts like a jerk, isout of order and has to be gaveled to shut the hell up. The "comedy", as you call it, starts with the top dog.

I think Scott P. is doing an excellent job. If you have questions, go to the meetings or request a meeting with him. All my friends are off today, should they be working also? Sounds like sour grapes to me.

I am in no way defending anyone. What I am doing is pointing out that the buck stops at the top. I am a registered R. Can anyone out there defend what the Mayor hdittoas done in the past and is still sitting on? We can point fingers at lots of people but that doesn't fix things, it just identifies the culprits. Maybe the only way to go is Independent. Sadly far too many people get elected by default. The last Mayoral race was indicative of that. What was comical was the Mayor actually thought he "won" the election. The last Council election, ditto. It was a matter of people NOT voting for someone as opposed to voting FOR someone. How pathetic was the R ticket to get swept by a bunch of newcomers? I'd still like to know who ran their campaign. Talk about a piece of garbage. One last thing Topps, try spell check. We all make some typos but there are some words that simply do not exist. D

@Denny D..I think we both agree about the B.S.in town has to stop and The R lost because of pour planning and not taking The Dem's that were running serious..My opinion...If we point fingers we point them at both side's and when someone gets the power they use it to better themselfs and the tax payers get the shaft...Let's hope the people who run for next elections get it right .

if the last election proved anything it's that any candidate will say anything to get elected and those elected to town council proved quite quickly how fast once in office all campaign promises go out the window.
