There were so many good fishing reports in the past few days, we couldn't wait 'til Friday to spill the beans in the weekly column.

First up, bluefish have officially invaded Barnegat Bay.

Word came in Sunday night from Tom Kilgannon of Pell's Fish and Sport on Mantoloking Road that the blues were chomping away in the northern bay.

"One of my customers had action yesterday for a full 60 minutes, one on every cast," he said.

The blues are hitting "just about anything, said Kilgannon, and most are in the 2-3 pound range.

Brick resident Tom Zdyrski e-mailed Brick Patch on Monday to talk about a good day of striper fishing on the ocean.

Zdyrski and pals Glen Porbansky, his Brother Mark, Wayne Mavro, and Blue Eye Girl owner and skipper Gary Brooks headed north to the Shrewsbury Rocks where they scored 11 bass to 20 pounds, plus one bluefish. They're the folks in the photo attached to this article.

Striper fishing has been steady on the ocean (at least before the recent nor'easter), especially to the north of Manasquan Inlet.

Surf fishing has been hit or miss. According to a report from The Dock Outfitters in Seaside Heights, bunker pods have been spotted outside the bar at Ortley Beach with plenty of bird play. Blues are chasing bunker in the bay, the report said.
