Snow began falling Friday night in Brick and continued into the early morning hours Saturday.
By 9 a.m. Saturday morning, forecasters say as much as 4 inches could fall. Early Saturday morning, there were about 2.5 inches on the ground.
Unlike a freak snowstorm in November following Superstorm Sandy that knocked power out to a significant percentage of the township, Jersey Central Power & Light was reported just 10 customers as having lost power in this latest storm.
Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis said crews salting and placing brine solution on roadways were out as the snow began falling. Plows would only begin working if 4 inches of snow fell, the minimum required in order for plowing to be effective.
On the barrier island, there were no reported breaches of the Atlantic Ocean in Brick or Mantoloking. There was one small breach confirmed in Toms River's Ortley Beach section, though it was being considered minor, causing a detour that spanned a few blocks on Route 35's northbound lanes.
The Mantoloking Fire Department said Friday night that the waves were "lapping at the dunes," though nothing had broken through.
A breach in Mantoloking during Sandy is thought to have caused flooding in both the barrier island and mainland neighborhoods in Brick.
There is still the threat of flooding as the nor'easter moves north.
High tide at the Mantoloking Bridge will occur at 11:11 a.m. and 11:38 p.m. Saturday.
On the oceanfront, high tide will occur at 6:13 a.m. and 6:40 p.m. Saturday.

Hey, how come no knews on what happened on the Mantoloking Bridge yesterday early afternoon? was there a bridge jumper...there had to be no less then 10-12 rescue trucks, cars, recovery and rescue vehicles along the east side and they were putting someone into an ambulance when we passed by and no news...are they trying to keep something quiet...please investigate Dan....

Lisa, There was a bridge employee in the mechanical room 30 feet below the bridge that had multiple injuries. The fire department and technical rescue team excavated him from the top of the bridge. No jumper. District 1 volunteers have training in this type of rescue. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Plows were dispatched around 2am. 72 vehicles were sent out. Second shift is going out shortly to widen roads and intersections.

Can ya have them hit ivanhoe off of doc please. 8 years of living in this house and I think ive seen a plow once. They always just say cul de sacs are last but it seems to work out that the rest of the neighborhood gets plowed and we dont.

Vin I know what your talking about. I live on a dead end street and we are the last ones to get plowed out. In fact most of the time we don't get plowed out at all. I have lived here for 20 years and have only been plowed out maybe 4 times in 20 years. But we pay the same amount of taxes as everybody else. But we are not treated like everybody else in this town. I guess the only way I'm gonna get the same services as ever other tax payer is to be the mayor or a councilman. So I really know what your saying Vin.

keep up the good work...that is until we get a storm that brings in 30"+ of snow then it's off w/ their heads 'cause it can't be cleared fast enough.
I wish the storm had dumped 30" here, I love reading how people insist they know how things should have been done when in reality they haven't a clue.

Wonderful video & photo footage. I cant imagine a boardwalk in Seaside Heights/Park w/out rides. Praying the owners of the FUNTOWN & CASINO PIERs make the right decision and RESTORE & not Sellout to CONDO or Mall type owners because that is not Jersey Shore I was born & raised loving nor my kids. I Seaside & cant wait to walk the boardwalk again!!

I am so happy Brick and surrounding towns dodged a bullet. I am concerned with the frequency with which these event storms appear to be occurring. For the doubters who don't believe in climate change - These are record breaking storms! I also think that whether we like it or not, the shore points are going to be different. Some differences will be out of necessity, some will be chasing a buck. I just hope it doesn't all end up for the riotch biotches.
