If you think it was Mayor Barrella, Councilwomen Tooker, Councilmen Corbally and Gordon that cut the specials than someone is pulling the wool over your eyes. They did no such thing. I love the way some really twist these comments around for their own personal interests. We finally get council members who truly care that is doing something good for PB and you are complaining. The town and majority of the residents in this town does not want rowdies or the cast of the Jersey Shore or their copy cat look a likes. They are trying to save the reputation of PPB...This town can surely survive on a family tourist destination town with no problem. I would say make stricter ordinances and larger fines for animal house and jersey shore type behavior to protect the town from visitors or patrons they don't want or need that drains our services. Anyway majority of the people I talk to feel PB out priced themselves in general. This includes locals from PPB and the surrounding towns. Tourists make decisions and try to find places that are more reasonable to their pocket books. Not everyone can afford the BW prices. "God Bless those who can" The BW appeared to be really busy Saturday, Sunday and even Monday. Maybe the bar night life is slower. Could it be they can buy drinks somewhere else for a lot less money. More families seem to be enjoying themselves. Is that something you are against? They already are given a tax break...Something is wrong when the beach is only valued at $500,000 dollars...I think they should re-evaluate the town, get someone who knows what they are doing. Because the values are off in comparison to other businesses in town. I wold buy that beach right now if you are telling me it is only valued at 500,000, average looking houses are valued higher than that. Personally I think to many are out of reality in this town and need a reality check.

That was last year's (2011) number. End of July 2012 number is bigger than the end of July 2011 number. I don't know how to make it easier to understand.

The honest truthful reason, something you do not understand MC is that there were so many parking machines out of order last year under barrellas watch that we could not collect all the revenue which we could have had the machines been repaired.

The parking boxes were down in 2010 not 2011. The problem was addressed and new boxes were installed for 2011.

I would note in passing that the problem with the boxes in 2010 was made worse by a 2009 decision not to renew the service plan with our then provider Metric. I am sure Nobody recalls who made that penny wise dollar foolish decision. They are no longer members of the governing body.

The machines in place this year were in place in 2011.

Mayor Barrella- can't respond to what your saying about 2010 over appropriations because your 2010 budget is not posted showing cash revenues for preceding year to gauge why they over appropriated...and these budgets were drawn up in the beginning of 2010, and according to your links: the parking meter problems were reported after the budget was drawn up? In 2010 your surplus had been depleted if I'm correct, and according to you that surplus had to be built up again, necessitating cuts in line item appropriations...like cutting Specials budget from $365K to $265K for 2011 hiring for one? The subject at this point is becoming mundane.

The PD got a sum of money for things like OT, specials and other expenses in 2011. Some members of the council wanted to cut that sum by $60K thinking it would be a cut in OT. They were told that was not the case, but they cut the total sum by $60K anyway. While I understand that you want the facts to support your position that the Mayor's office and the Borough Administrator's office cut the special's budget, those are simply not the facts. We actually suggested a way to avoid the $60K cut, but the council chose not to adopt the approach we suggested.

Here is the link to the 2010 budget which is on the town's website. You will note that anticipated parking revenue in 2010 is $350K+ more than the actual 2009 collections reflected in that same document. I understand that budget facts can be mundane.

It looks like it was plugged in for want of better term. Doesn't reflect your 2008, 2007 realized cash of $1,426,028.50, $1,442,827.80 respectively. Your realized cash for 2009 as I said was $1,628,066.75. So your Council was off a considerable amount...about $123,000 in over anticipation of revenue? Yet a year later you were reporting cash realized of $1,877,238.68, almost $126,000 more than the 2010 revenue anticipation of $1,751,240.00 that you referred too.

Now all this presumes that there was no additions in parking meters or subtractions...although you did say meters were not working in 2010.
