Readers' Choice: Ikko is Brick's Favorite Ethnic Restaurant

Where do you go when you want something a little different to eat?

This week we asked Brick Patch readers to name their favorite ethnic restaurant (we featured a number of options in our poll).

Readers chose Ikko – a Japanese/Sushi restaurant in Brick Plaza – as their number one choice.

A close second was Spanish Potato Grille, a Portuguese restaurant located at 399 Mantoloking Road.

The full results of our poll is below.

Editor's Note: Because this poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch. The Spanish Potato is by far one the best restaurants in Brick. The food is very delicious and tasty. The take-out menu for $8 is the chef's choice and it's always very satisfying. The portions are very large and it includes dessert. It's a departure from always eating the same old thing.

You're kidding, right? Who stuffed the ballot box on this one? Are you one of the two employees there? There's never more than one car in the small lot. No business has done well in that location, and this is no exception. Go to Europa South for a good meal.

Brick: home of fast food and chain restaurants. Definitely not the place for either unique, upscale or ethnic food. There are 8 choices and 4 of them are Asian :-)

IKKO is the best!! The place is always busy and the Sushi is always fresh!! Simon and the boys always take care of you!! Going anywhere else for Sushi or Hibachi doesn't make any sense!!

Spanish Potato was excellent the other night. We had never been there and decided to try it. We went early around 5 and that place filled up so fast, people waiting for a table. Large portions, great seafood combo and sizzling spanish steak with mushrooms. Nice touch of hot soup with every meal in big bowl. Lots of garlic and wonderful flavor. Nice atmosphere. Great service! I am a fan.

Great food, but no ambiance and because it is the size of an only in my dreams large walk-in closet, if you aren't in on the only few tables, you are going to wait. I also prefer a little less noise and bright lights when I have my dinner. The guy can cook though not doubt about that. He will do well on weekends but wonder if that will be enough. I would definitely do take out if I lived closer. I hope the Mantaloken locals will support him on that.

Keeping it in Brick. Mexico Lindo, best for, what else, mexican food. The atmosphere (how the place looks inside) is no different then most ethnic eateries I have been to. I work in a very ethnic mixed urban area, I have been in several ethnic restaurants. Mexico Lindo's "atmosphere" is kept to what is typical of an ethnic restaurant. Most owner's try and keep to what would be typical of what one would find if they were actually in the country of a particular ethnicity, making it more authentic. Mexico Lindo has good food, it's clean and the staff is very friendly. All that combined with the atmosphere makes it a great, more authentic mexican restaurant. I also believe it has been in Zagats.

Heads up...order early for cinco de mayo...

El Tenampa had a much better atmosphere and at twenty dollars an entree I don't know what the fuss is about expense. Too many two buck chucks keep the town a fast food haven to which I say blech.

Ikki is good & fun but high cost for a family to go out ( just went 4 of us 92$ Plus a tip 17$ = 109$ to eat rice, noddles, veggies & chicken. Like I said it was good, But be prepared to pay for the show !
