Portion of Herbertsville Road to be Reconstructed
Project part of multi-road maintenance plan
Ocean County will reconstruct and resurface a portion of Herbertsville Road later this year, officials have announced.
The busy county road in the northern portion of the township will be improved from the Monmouth County border to Lanes Mill Road, the county said in a statement.
Herbertsville Road is one out of seven roads county-wide to be resurfaced as part of a larger project that also includes roads in Toms River, Jackson and Long Beach Township. In all, 5.75 miles of roads will be replaced.
All of the roads will be milled and resurfaced with new signage added, Freeholder Jack Kelly said. As part of the resurfacing, pedestrian sidewalk ramps will be upgraded to meet the latest federal Americans with Disabilities Act requirements, he added.
Additionally, stormwater inlet grates will be replaced with bicycle-safe grates that also meet state Department of Environmental Protection water quality standards.
Work on all seven roads should be completed by the late summer or early fall, said Freeholder Deputy Director James F. Lacey.

AGAIN! How many times do we have to pay to have Herbertsville Rd repaved? Drum Point Rd past the WaWa has not been paved or fixed in over 20 years. Old Hooper is really bad. But instead we will fix Herbertsville Rd again. I wonder which Freeholder or should I say freeloader lives on this street? They paved Lanes Mills real nice and all the streets off of them got paved maybe that's because two of the town council members just happen to live off of those streets. And JerseyGirl is right most of the streets in Lakewood are horrible.

The only reason I care about Lakewood is that some of us have to drive through it to get to work. And I'm tired of my car being messed up because we know the town doesn't want to spend the money on fixing the roads. They are to busy spending tax payers money to build religious schools and new housing developments for a certain group of people. They don't care because all of their cars are messed up from the way they drive. And the only way the county will fix the roads is if the leaders pressure them to fix them.

The streets off of Lanes Mills were probably done by a company that has political ties in this county. Another out of state company. I wonder which political ties democrats or republicans? Probably the Republicans they have had control for soooo long now it's ridiculous. And since nobody want's to vote them out, the power has gone to their heads and they do what they want with OUR money. They are great at spending our tax dollars for crappy work. This way they can spend more of our money to have them repaved again. That's why we keep spending money on Herbertsville Rd. It's just like Ashbrit. Politically connected companies doing so-so work with a over priced payout.
