The deadline to register to vote in the November election is around the corner. Tuesday, Oct. 16 is the deadline to register to vote.
To register in New Jersey, you must be:
- a United States citizen
- 18 years of age by the next election
- a resident of the county for 30 days prior to the election
Voter registration can be completed at the Ocean County Clerk's Office, 118 Washington Street in Toms River, 08753. Call 732-929-2018 or access the clerk's website for more information. The clerk's office is open 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays.
You are not eligible to register to vote if you are serving a sentence or on parole or probation, as a result of a conviction of an indictable offense under state or federal law and have been judged mentally incompetent.
Applications for registration can be obtained from the Division of Elections, the Commissioners of Registration office in the county where you live or from your local Municipal Clerk.
Registration forms are also available in various state agencies and at Division of Motor Vehicle offices and can be obtained while transacting agency business.

In addition, this form can be used for name and address changes. The Commissioner of Registration cannot accept faxed copies or an electronic transmission of a voter registration form since an original signature is required.

There has not been as important an election as this one in my half century on this mortal coil...Register and vote! I would, naturally, prefer that you vote for ME, but just be sure your voice is heard. Your vote matters...if you DON'T Vote, well - do the math, folks. You also have no right to grouse later - win or lose.
