Boating and fishing enthusiasts can find some bargains tomorrow at the Ocean Gate Yacht Basin's first Annual Boat Show and Nautical Market.
The show kicks off at 9 a.m. and will run through 4 p.m. Admission is $1, with proceeds going to benefit the Susan G. Komen three-day, 60-mile breast cancer awareness event.
“I think it’s great that we can bring these two things together to help boaters get ready for the 2012 season, plus help raise funds for a great cause,” said Gary Mease, President of Ocean Gate Yacht Basin, Inc.
The Mease family has owned and operated the marina at 65 Bayview Avenue in Bayville since 1958. Sarah Mease - one of the third-generation family members working at the marina- organized the fund-raising portion of the event.
“I’m also happy to find another way to promote breast cancer awareness," she said. "This year will be my fifth Susan G. Komen three-day walk. I’ve made the decision to do it every year until they find a cure."
Vendors slated to be at the event include Ocean Gate Yacht Sales; Octopus Yachts Marine Electronic Services; Fuller's Marine; Tide's End Marina; C & C Marina, New Jersey Outboards; custom boat canvas maker Sea Canvas and SailTime Jersey Shore, a shared boat membership and training company. The Ocean Gate Yacht Basin Ship’s Store will also have items available for sale.
“We’re excited to be able to put together this event for the boating community in our region," Sarah Mease said. "It will be a great way for visitors to come out to find some bargains to outfit their boats before they get out on the water this year.”
Editor's note: Berkeley Patch erred last week when it listed the date of the event as May 12. We apologize for the mistake.
