Councilman Bob Moore will lead the governing body in 2013, it was decided Tuesday night.
The council elected Moore, a Democrat, to the position that was held in 2012 by Councilman John Ducey.
Moore served as vice president last year.
Councilwoman Susan Lydecker will serve as vice president this year.
Quickly, the conversation turned to Brick's ongoing recovery from Superstorm Sandy.
"We are in this together for the long haul, and for the benefit of our residents the council and the administration will continue to work as one," said Moore. "We might have been battered, but we're not broken. Today, in the aftermath of Sandy, we're stronger, more determined and more united. Let's get started."
Ducey said 2012 was a year of "saves" and 2013 should be a year of "rebounds."
"We had a lot of saves," he said. "Saves on money on contracts, saving DPW, then Sandy happened, and we had saves from other people in town, our police, EMS, all the fire department personnel and volunteers and the people of Brick."
"Now, this year comes into play, where it's rebounds, because we do need a rebound."
Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis, a Republican, congratulated Moore and Lydecker and pledged to work together in what will doubtlessly be a politically active year in town.
"The first year after a disaster is what's going to set the next four, five, six years," he said.
Lydecker will continue to serve on the township planning board, as she did last year.
"We really need stability in this position at this time," said Ducey.

Congratulations Moore, you LIAR. The new council president and MUA commisioner has NO integrity or ethics. He is a LIAR. Bob Moore promised the voters that he would not take township health benefits. He promised that he would end benefits for MUA commisioners and part time employees. Bob Moore is a LIAR. Jim Fozman is a LIAR.

The appointments made last night show the dirty side of politics. Something the Democrats vowed to fix. Who is double dipping now? Promised not to take the benefits? Promised to cut taxes? I hope come election time people don't forget.

It's called quid pro quo....
Remember Moore's vote to keep Bellu's job? The 1st vote... that bought enough time for Acropolis to knock out Toth from voting. Albeit Moore changed his mind, he knew it would have no affect on the outcome and he can look as if he is going along with the party vote.

Again, it is all in the family. I wouldn't even have such a problem with all of the neoptism if any of these people could answer a phone without the attitude that so many give. Enough to comment about.

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to fear. The traitor is the plague."-Cicero

Chief Wahoo your the man. You are correct because as a republic the people who were voted in should echo the voices of the voters who placed them in that seat. We know the rest

Moore running a council meeting. What a joke. Did you think Ducey was bad? What a bunch of misfits. I hope Pezzarras does not miss any meetings. No one else knows what is going on.

The only worse thing that could happen is that Moore is absent and Lydecker has to run a meeting There is an old saying, listening to her is like listening to someone talking telephone numbers. She rambles on and on and makes no sense at all.
