I'm from Chadwick Beach. We are fundraising via donations to www.rebuildchadwick.com. Donations will go directly towards rebuilding our beach community. We need a boardwalk, badge booth, benches, bike racks, flag pole, and much more !

Bill, Don't tell people what to focus their relief efforts on. It's all part of the bigger picture. Do what feels right for yourself and let others do as they see fit.

AHEM......would someone like to tell the residents of Silverton and Toms River something?? Where can we go to get these donations? I see them being loaded onto tractor trailers but not being distributed. Many people are still in need of supplies in therse areas, esp. Green Island

Martin, Try contacting the Osbornville Baptist Church on Drum Pt Rd in Brick. It's not that far from Silverton. We heard they took over the relief center of another nearby church and have a well stocked supply of donated items.

I agree Bill, stop worrying about the beach. Maybe since our home in Brick was destroyed we can now sleep on the "replenished" beach!

I hope that all the donations are not wasted. I am in Toms River, I did not lose my home, but was without power for 10 days and did have some damage by me. Also when I got my power back had to replace all the food I lost. During the storm when I had no power and had to try to go to convience stores or whatever I could find opened.just to buy sandwiches so my family and I had something to eat. I did not go for anything being handed out. I felt the people who lost their homes or were not allowed back to their homes at the time needed it and deserved it more than me. But I just hope it was not wasted.

Let this be a lesson. Failing to plan is planning to fail. Have at least 3 weeks (1 year if you can afford it) of non-perishable food stored along with several gallons of water and a hefty supply of toilet paper. Assume the next storm will knock out power for days (possibly weeks) and there will be no public works around to collect your garbage or plow your street. Don't expect anyone to come rescue you or any stores or banks to be open.

I BELIEVE THAT THEY GO IN WITH SOME PEOPLE (NOT ENOUGH), AND SEND THEM WITH LITTLE RED COBBLERS ON, OR SOMETHING. THEY GIVE A HYGENE KIT AND SOME WATER AND MAYBE A VERY SMALL BIT OF FOOD. THIS IS ACCORDING TO COMMENTS FROM SOMEONE TRYING TO CLEAR OUT, DIRT, MUD, GOOK, AND EVERYTHING FROM THEIR PLACE WHICH WAS LOST LOST. THEY COME IN AND ASK IF YOU NEED ANYTHING, BUT THEN LEAVE. IN OTHER WORDS, THEY AREN'T GOING TO HELP WITH CLEAN UP AND REBUILDING, YOU'RE ON YOUR OWN, IF AFTER DEDUCTIBLE YOU HAVE ENOUGH INSURANCE MONEY LEFT TO BUY A CAN OF PAINT. A FEW OTHERS SAID THAT THEY (RC) WERE SUPPOSED TO SUPPLY PORTA-POTTIES, BUT THAT THEY HADN'T SEEN ANY.

DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYONE ELSE WHO ACTUALLY WORKS FOR THE RED CROSS, AND WHAT THEIR MISSION IS IN HELPING. I TRIED TO READ THE RED CROSS PAGES ON INTERNET. I DON'T FIND ANYTHING THAT THEY DO COMMESURATES TO WHAT THEY COLLECT? WHAT'S THE DEAL. IF A FEW OF THE POSTERS WILL TRY, SEE IF THEY CAN JOIN BY INTERNET OR PHONE AND FIND OUT WHAT THEY WOULD NEED TO DO. I HEARD

I AGREE ABOUT CLEANING UP INDIVIUALS PLACES AND GETTING THEM GOING AGAIN, BUT THE ONLY REASON THAT PERSON MUST HAVE MENTIONED THE BOARDWALK, BADGES AND ALL THAT, IS BECAUSE THAT IS THE WAY THE TOWN STAYS A COMMUNITY TOO, SO THEY NEED THAT. So stupid. The boardwalk is the town's responsibility. I don't understand why, if you need water or food etc, you don't go to the store and buy it. The help that's really needed is manpower on the barrier island going house to house pulling out all the debris that is all over the place. If people are in shelters that's one thing but that's not the majority of the people. The rest of us need to donate our muscles when they let us go over the bridge to help our brothers and sisters with the clean up. The Red Cross doesn't do all that much to help. We need people who are willing to donate their time to help rip out carpets and sheetrock and get down and dirty. That's what we need. The town can worry about the badge stand. As for me, I'll help my neighbors and strangers who need it.

How selfish you are to ask for donations to build a badge booth. Why should I finance my own exclusion from you community.

How different is restoring the Chadwick Beach Boardwalk compared to Restoring the Seaside Heights Boardwalk?? Ive lived in Ocean County all my life, and you are Blasting this person because they want to fix their Beach?? Helloooooooooo we are asking to fix Seaside Heights!!! duhhhhh... Get a Grip! Yes, People come first, I get that but if you even listen to the News or Read the sites the DONATIONS for the PEOPLE are being STOPPED because there is TOO MUCH and they don't need more nor can the store anymore. My name is Diane Hart and I run a charity called Friends of Brick. We are a 501c3 charity that specifcally helps the residents of Brick Township. If you would like to donate to Brick residents specifically, we currently need non perisable food, new toys for Christmas, gift cards for stores that do not sell liquor, cleaning supplies and monetary donations. There's are clothing items, house cleaning items, baby diapers, bedding, shoes, for every age at the church of visitation on mantiloking rd in bricktown. Someone asked about baby items, I helped unload a truck the other day and they have a room full, go there.

Also, you guys should stop arguing, and go volunteer. Who's gonna hand out all these donations and help unload and organize them? Visitation church needs volunteers today all day until 10pm.
