GSP Southbound In Toms River Experiencing Heavy Delays

Emergency maintenance shuts down two lanes south of toll plaza

Emergency maintenance on the Garden State Parkway has closed the right and center lanes southbound from south of the Toms River toll plaza to south of exit 83A.

Lane closures took place initially around 8:30 a.m. and were still wreaking  havoc on traffic as of 11:30 Saturday morning, according to www.nj511.org.

An eyewitness reported that traffic was backed up for one mile and repairs were taking place to the roadway just south of the toll plaza.

Patch will update with more information as to the reason for the repairs when it becomes available.

Some drivers just DON'T know how to drive when the roadway is slick..Some young drivers think that it's a video game and can hit the RESET button when things go bad..But then again, some drivers, driving a HUGE SUV, think that they can drive through a tornado..Just saying !!

I heard last night that there was some kind of sink hole on the Parkway. That must be what this is referring to.
