Three local merchants, in partnership with the Brick Township Bureau of Fire Safety, will distribute free batteries Saturday.
The battery givwaway coincides with the start of daylight savings time, where clocks will "spring ahead" at 2 a.m. Sunday morning. The day is commonly used as a reminder to change home smoke detector batteries.
Distribution of batteries while supplies last will begin at 9 a.m. at:
- Brick Wal-Mart, 1872 Rt 88 E
- Brick Lowe's Home Improvement Center, 520 Rt 70
- Brick Home Depot, 1722 Rt 88 W

I am usnsure if this is a government program. I would think if people who are shopping are reminded to check their fire detector batteries, that is a good thing. My parents' home caught fire, and it was because of fire detectors that everyone survived. A little powdering might not be a bad idea.

So nobody is capabale of checking their smoke detectors after thousands of dollars in advertising is spent by the government unless the government gives them batteries.
How did we send people to the moon before the government wiped your backside.
