Frazier Finishes Third in ROY Voting

TR native shines in first full year with Reds

When the Major League Baseball season started back in April, many people expected Washington Nationals phenom Bryce Harper to finish at the top of the pack in the Rookie of the Year contest.

When Harper was announced as the winner on Monday, Toms River South alum Todd Frazier also made his case for the best newcomer in the senior league.

Playing for the Cincinnati Reds in his first full season in the league, Frazier hit .273 and knocked out 19 home runs while bringing in 67 RBI. Those stats put him right in line with Harper, who won the award after hitting .270 with 22 homers and 59 RBI.

According to MLB.com, the final voting, Harper took the 16 of the 32 first place votes which gave him most of his 112 points. Frazier finished third with three first place votes as part of his 45 total points. Finishing second was Arizona pitcher Wade Miley who picked up 12 first place votes for 105 points.

Finally... a feel good story.
I've watched Todd Frazier and followed his career since the summer of 1998. Congrats... well deserved for all the hard work he put in.

Congratulations Todd to you and your family you have always done things the right way. I have a son who plaid on your 11 year old biddy basketball team and you always were unselffish despite your obvious athletic talents. Your parents deserve credit for raising you the right way
