Final Summerfest Celebration Tonight

Fireworks, Duprees show set for tonight

It's not possible, is it?

Labor Day weekend is only 24 hours hours away, and the unofficial end of summer is in our midst. But there's one last chance to party at Windward Beach as Brick's 2012 Summerfest celebration wraps up for the season.

Tonight, Summerfest will conclude with the usual fireworks display, as well as a performance by The Duprees.

The doo-wop group, known for hits such as "You Belong to Me," My Own True Love" and "Have You Heard?" will take the stage at Windward Beach at 7 p.m.

Fireworks will follow at dusk. The food court will open at 5 p.m.

As usual, shuttle buses will run between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. from Brick Township High School, Drum Point Elementary School and Midstreams Elementary School. Return buses will begin running at 9 p.m.

Anybody know of a good spot you can see the fireworks from without actually going to windward?

I submitted directions to Breton Woods beach section of Brick, but for some reason it was not printed in comments.

Hi Deb, I checked our system and it didn't flag anything you posted. If you try again it should work.

I have small kids and wanted to take them to the fireworks, but not get involved in the whole summerfest mob.

Well, I think it's private for swimming in the daytime, yes. But no one is around at night, except the neighbors who walk down there to view fireworks at night. I used to walk there from my girlfriend's house on Pinecrest to watch fireworks. Not crowded I don't think.
