we felt here in wall. we called the none emergency wall pd number hering the noise and the house shaking was a bit nerve racking. and they told us of the excersice. i think they could of sent out some kinda notice on this. but all is good they need the practice.

I also agree that a warning of some kind should have been issued

OMG Thats what that was! I felt it and heard it all afternoon! I thought of calling the non emergency to ask but I figured maybe it was construction someplace near by!glad I wasnt losing my mind!

I'm in Brick and at first I thought I was hearing things, but the house felt like it was vibrating a little. I did call the non-emergency police number myself after my desk I was sitting at shook (like during the earthquake) not finding anything on the news.

I felt it and heard it in Point.

Living in Manchester we hear a lot of the training. My thoughts are that I would rather hear the noise of the training than real war in my neighborhood. God bless our service men and keep them safe. They are training to keep us safe.

For those complaining that a warning should have been given, read the article, they have no way of knowing how far the sound will go. It depends on the weather. I heard and felt them myself and figured out what it was from past experiences. And I agree with Dunsie, better to hear the noise from our troops training than to hear that same noise while they are fighting for our freedom here. May God look over those troops as they are getting ready to deploy and all the others that are already there.

When our family hears that rumble of our troops training, we feel reassured !! And I hope that you do too !!

I remember we used to hear it all the time in the summer years ago before these wars started, it's kind of reassure and Bayway Mike says, it lets you feel safer knowing your military is home.

I thought it was the contractor working on Ocean County College. It did sound kind of stupid to pick something up that many times and keep dropping it!!

When I lived at the Toms Rover/Manchester border, we heard loud booms every Thursday night. and got used to it. The military transports flying overhead made the war more real than the media did.

Do you own the auto repair shop on Rte. 88 near the Hospital...same exact words are on his exterior sign :-)

I'm fine with the training and all, but a little notice (especially, if such notice wasn't in violation of any vital security rules) would have helped alleviate the concern(s) some had that their homes were being rocked and shaken with no visible cause one could discern. On a side note, I thought my dogs were bad with thunderstorms, this made thunderstorms seem like a walk in the park. I thought they were both going to shake themselves to death.

I figured that's what it was. It's nothing new, just happens now and then as long as I can remember.
When I was a little kid sonic booms were a regular occurrence. Or at least I still remember them happening one summer in particular in the early 60's.

These were louder than what I remembered in the 70's - 80's.

This is brining back so many pre-9/11 memories, I remember when me and my family would be in the backyard and have out of state relatives over, we'd hear the bombs and they'd go "Is that thunder?" and it was so usual to say "No it's bombs dropping at the Base"

The sound may travel farther on over cast days??? Really? I suppose my walls shaking and windows rattling were because it was a sunny day. Whatever.

It is now June 3 2012 & these noises went on for hours yesterday and right now...that is what made me come to my computer and see if I could find out what all the "booming" noises were. We just moved here a month ago & we pray this does not happen all the time.

not really...I heard it as well. I figured it was the same thing.I've lived here for 7 yrs and its only the second time I've heard it. I wouldn't worry too much about it.

@jon, reallly!! .... they shouldnt test becauses it might make to much noice for the seniors ... Get over it, Life doesnt revolve around the Senior Comminity, I grew up in Morris Cnty heard Picatinny Arsenal testing my entire childhood .. If you didnt realize you bought your home by military site thats on you...

@justsayinit...That was pretty crude. Perhaps the noise from the Picatinny Arsenal picked out your tiny brain. You Just may grow up to be a senior citizen some day, but I hope not because you will be the stereotype nasty old grouch!

Agreed the military sould NOT have to worry if its some Sr. nap time. thats Just so rediclous to think for a second that they should even have to think or worry about that... Anyone that lives near a military base HAS to realize theres going to be noise... the rest of the world has things to keep them busy all day & NOT worry about The military testing, really arent you glad they are?? Arent you glad the bases are still opened?? Just stop complaining If you dont like it move the middle of nowhere or at LEAST Fla.

Thanks to those who understand what I mean without having to "write a book". This morning ( Sunday June 10 ) was the fifteenth day in a row & we are happy that there are some good people who gave us the info about this subject. Jon, according to the Manchester Patch the training will continue throuugh June 14.

Glad to hear we have a date...its become second nature...we are used to it now. I grew up next to a lumber yard as a child so here in brick thts what it sounds like to me.I don't think people need to be nasty with their comments.I've been getting updates via email and its very upsetting. Some day we will all be elderly...some respect should be given to all no matter what. Thank you to those that looked into it.

Same thing here. My folks and I moved to NW Toms River in '96. I knew the base was there but it seemed far enough away. At first, hearing the noise only happened when the wind blew towards us but it escalated as time went on. Not for that reason, but I moved to H.C. Silverton and it's peaceful here.
