End of the Weekend Brings Exiting Traffic to Area

Traffic particularly heavy in Toms River area as visitors head home

If it's 4 p.m. on Sunday that means the weekend is almost over, which means there are plenty of people leaving the Jersey Shore and heading back to their regular lives for another week of work.

While most schools are now on vacation for the summer, or will be shorty, there is already plenty of traffic on the roadways and accidents to be aware of.

The New Jersey Turnpike Authority is reporting delays on the Garden State Parkway near exit 82A in the area of Toms River. The backup from this delay is estimated to be close to two miles making for a slow drive near the Ocean County seat.

There is also an accident reported on the Parkway near the Toms River tolls which is blocking off the left lane for those drivers trying to head north of the area.

As of 4:20 p.m.,  there was also a reported crash on the northbound side of the Parkway near exit 69 near Waretown Road in Lacey. The left lane on the northbound side is also blocked there for drivers heading away from the more southern parts of the Shore area.

Also reported as a problem area is the New Jersey Turnpike in the area from Exit 7A to Exit 8. The eight mile delay is being attributed to the normal heavy volume moving northbound and away from the Jersey Shore.

Much like the Parkway delays, there is also a reported accident on the Turnpike at the Woodrow Wilson Service Area which is blocking the left lane on the northbound side of that roadway as well.
