Jonathan Miller and Megan Baglivio never expected to be on the Ellen DeGeneres TV show, much less to leave the set with the gift of their lives.

The couple, who are volunteers with Point Beach EMS, the squad that serves Point Pleasant Beach, Bay Head and Mantoloking, are getting their flooded home gutted and made over by Kitchen Cousins, professional home remodelers, thanks to the generosity of DeGeneres.

The home, on Princeton Avenue in Brick, is Miller's home that the couple spent a lot of time renovating during the summer to get it ready for when they live there as a married couple, according to what is discussed in the video clip. The renovations to the kitchen and living room were destroyed by the wrath of Sandy.

Baglivio's three sisters, Eileen, Kerry and Christine Baglivio, who live in Point Pleasant Borough, wrote a letter to DeGeneres asking if she could help the couple, whose own home was flooded badly while they were out with their squad helping others.

DeGeneres was touched by the story of the engaged couple, who, along with other volunteer first aiders and volunteer firefighters, rescued, treated and fed countless area residents victimized by Sandy, which was classified as a tropical storm when it hit Atlantic County on the night of Oct. 29.

Miller is captain of the squad and Baglivio is a teacher at Memorial Middle School in Point Pleasant Borough. The couple live in a home off of Beaver Dam Road. Many homes in Point Pleasant Borough's low-lying Sunshine Harbor and Bay Head Shores areas east of Beaver Dam Road were also badly flooded and without power until the last couple of days.

Some homes, with water-damaged meter boxes, cannot have power restored until the equipment is replaced and inspected. Many homes in the Jersey Shore region are facing the same challenge due to damaged meter boxes, control panels and other equipment.
