The clean slate team has a lot of nerve campaigning on the radio during all of this. I've been at the shelters only Jubert and Gearty were there.

Sounds like you're the only one trying to make this disaster political. You should be ashamed of yourself, but I've got a feeling that shame is not something you're capable of.

So let me see if I have this. The Clean Slate Team is bad for politicing during the storm and Gearty and Jubert are good for politicing during the storm, OK got it.

These are YOUR Democratic-Republican candidates - and they aren't on here because they are in your community helping out - I'm only here because it's 1:28 in the morning, and I cannot sleep over all of this. My family was probably the least hard hit personally out of all of us - quickly got power back 2.5 days. Only lost a few shingles and a large tree. Eugene's and my mother and father had a large maple tree strike their house and crush their car.
All told, we were all very lucky. Just returned my middle daughter to Rutgers, who had to be evacuated Monday p.m. (no fun, and thank God I drive a Suburban). I travelled to several communities, volunteering but not identifying myself as a candidate - I was stunned and humbled at the way the towns have pulled together to help one another. With the exception of Len, who has had a very hard go of it - (damage and still without power) - we have all been in constant touch - and available to our constituents). I have seen nothing from my competitors.

I'm speaking of the two "majors", of course. I've been in touch with each of the three independents I am running against - one is fine, one is in Ca., and, sadly, the last of the three "Roberts" has lost his home. He has been in touch only via text, and hanging in there. His 5-month-old and his wife are with family. He's toughing it out as best he can.

I don't know any of the people who are running for the Toms River BOE but, did any of you think that perhaps that these people may have been affected by the Hurricane themselves? Just because Jamie Jubert and Ed Gearity visited the shelters doesn't mean that the voters of South Toms River should throw a party for her. There were MANY people who just went to the shelters to volunteer their time to help the people who were displaced by this storm. These people went there just because they thought it was the right thing to do to try and help those who were in need not there to be seen and try to drum up votes.

That's what we're all doing - and I'm not drumming votes here - in fact, I am rather opening myself to criticism. What I am doing is letting you know that we're all out there helping out as best we can - as are thousands of you. We're not just sitting back comfortably. Win or lose, we live here in this district, and it matters to us.

I would just like to say this...... 2 of the people running against the TR Bd of Ed incumbents are in favor of privatizing school resources such as transportation, Do you think that if transportation was privatized, that the school buses would be used to evacuate victims of Sandy ? Bus companies like Durham, Jays etc does not do volunteer work. I know for a fact that the TR Schools transportation department volunteered countless hours working at shelters, organizing fundraisers and shuttling victims to and from shelters.
Bottom Line
4:24 pm on Monday, November 5, 2012
At the League of Women Voters Debate all candidates made it clear they are NOT in support of privatization of any aspect of the district. Gus may be crooked, but he supports the transpo department--the same goes with Torrone, Rhine and Spillane. Get your facts right.
