DUI Arrest For Man Driving Wrong Way on Route 37
Man cooperates, hands police officers his keys
Brick Township police officers, enroute in Toms River after dropping off a prisoner at the Ocean County jail, assisted in a driving under the influence arrest 3 a.m. Friday.
Brick Township Officers James Iannarone and Mark Byers were on Main Street, stopped at the traffic light at Route 37 and 166, when they observed a vehicle next to them make a left turn into the Route 37 eastbound lanes going the wrong way, according to Police Chief Michael Mastronardy.
The Brick officers then also turned left in the westbound lanes and made numerous attempts to get the driver's attention and have him turn around, according to police.
The officers sped up and upon entering the intersection of Route 37 and Hospital Drive they were able to stop the driver.
The driver then handed the officers his keys, was very cooperative and stated to the officers he was “too drunk to drive,” according to police.
Toms River Police Officer Adam Koeppen charged Daniel Goss, 46, of Toms River with DWI, reckless driving and driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

Very scary situation. Glad no one got hurt......things could have ended tragically if he hit another driver.

Wow!!!What are the chance's a police officer is in the lane next to him and saw it first hand? I can't imagine the fatalities that could have taken place have that officer not been there! Thank God it ended the way it did. Great job officer!

This guy should be embarrassed, 50 years old and acting like an irresponsible teenager. Most teenagers aren't that careless. Pat yourself self on the back, you've made it in life.

Makes you wonder how many of these guys don't even get caught if it weren't for the cops being in the right place at the right time
