Driver Injured in Chambers Bridge Road Accident
Driver lost control on ramp, drove through wooded area onto Chambers Bridge Road, struck car driven by Bayville man
A Manchester man was injured in an accident that occurred Monday afternoon near the Garden State Parkway off-ramp on Chambers Bridge Road in Brick.
According to Brick Police Sgt. David Bedrosian, the 80-year-old man, whose name is being withheld pending notification of family members, failed to negotiate the curve of the exit ramp in his 2004 Mercury Grand Marquis, and proceeded through the wooded area and continued out across the southbound lanes of Chambers Bridge Road.
The vehicle struck the center lane divider before striking a 2008 Pontiac G5 being driven by Robert Abramson, 69, of Bayville, Bedorsian said.
Pioneer Hose and Breton Woods Fire Companies responded for the extrication of the Manchester man, who was transported to Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, for treatment of his injuries by Brick Police EMS.
Brick Township Police Officers Robert Heschle, Vincent Rosa, James Iannarone and Brian Williams assisted at the scene. The Lakewood Police Department also assisted by detouring traffic at Highway 88 West.
The investigation into the 2:35 p.m. crash caused traffic congestion in the area for approximately 90 minutes to two hours, Bedrosian said. The crash investigation was handled by the New Jersey State Police, as the first episode of the crash occurred on the Parkway exit ramp, said Bedrosian.

Bless the seniors and their old age. They lose sight of there surroundings and venture off into daydreaming. We are all guilty of it but seniors really don't pay attention to the finer details on the road. Not to mention NJ is a cluster of a mess that makes for a disaster of accidents available anywhere to anyone at any age. I do hope the man that hit my grandfather is ok, nonetheless. My grandparents are fine, Thank God! However, the Pontiac G5 is a goner :(
