Cheerleaders Honored by Brick Council

AYF cheerleaders, football all-stars get recognized

The accomplishments of several American Youth Football and Cheer cheering squads from the north side of town were honored at Tuesday evening township council caucus meeting.

This year, the organizations switched leagues from Pop Warner to AYF, but the change didn't stop Brick's players from achieving national recognition for their efforts.

The Junior Pee Wee Small Red team won first place nationally at a competition in Florida, first place in the AYF's Big East, and first place in the Jersey Shore.

"To go down and capture a national championship is an amazing accomplishment," said Mayor Stephen C. Acropolis.

Likewise, the Pee Wee Small Blue team won a national championship.

The Pee Wee Large Blue team captured the Jersey Shore title, came in second in the Big East and was the first runner up at the national competition in Florida.

Also, the Midget Small Blue team won a national title after getting hot late in the season.

"You could compare them to the Giants," said Councilman Domenick Brando. "They got hot, and the further they got into the competition, they did better."

The team also won first place in the Big East.

Finally, Brick's two AYF football all stars, Tyler Thompson and Tim Santiago, were honored. The two eighth graders were part of an all star team that won a national football championship, beating Washington 32-0.

Congrats to the girls and congrats to Mustang AYF (AYC) side for getting rid of that cheer coach they have. (Do not want to mention any names) Now BTHS just has to realize how nasty of a person she is and that she does not deserve to be rehired! The rumor is she is trying to come to the Dragon side now to coach for AYC! I hope they are not that dum to take her!!

If and when awards are given out to other similar programs in town, we'll carry the story. These awards ceremonies aren't quick when done at the council meetings – my sense is that they stagger them in the schedule.

Might seem a little evil but whenever I see cheerleaders or band members 'panhandling' outside the supermarket I just can't resist asking them why you never the football players having to panhandle to exist?

go to a high school football game, pay your entrance fee and ask them where the money goes

then stop over to the refreshment building and have a bite to eat and some soda, pay the bill and ask them where the money goes

my point is I can tell you the band gets $0, not sure about the cheerleaders but I don't see the football parents sharing with them either

does that answer your question?

You are correct about that - cheer and band always the end of the line.
Congraulations to all -

She does not have a heart and from what I hear ever since that happened to those poor girls she decided to make all the senior girls captain just to spite the True Chosen captains for supporting Breast Cancer. I don;t know why brick patch did not do a story on that!! And now the other side of AYF/AYC go ride of her and she wants to come on the dragon side to coach!!! Hoep they are not that dum and take her. The Board of Ed really has to rethink hiring her back!
