Chambers Bridge Rd. Crash Sends Man to Hospital, Closes Roadway
Power outages also result from crash
An accident Sunday night shut down a portion of Chambers Bridge Road and sent one man to the hospital, police said.
Officer Jay Lampiasi said a 2003 Jeep Wrangler being driven by Neil Napolitano of Ocean Township veered to the right as it was approaching the intersection with the entrance to the Kohl’s shopping plaza at about 7:50 p.m.
The Jeep hit the curbed island of the plaza entrance and continued south, striking a fire hydrant and a utility pole before coming to a final rest on Chambers Bridge Road approximately 75 feet south of the shopping plaza entranceway, Lampiasi said.
The accident is still being investigated by Lampiasi.
Napolitano was transported to Ocean Medical Center for treatment of possible head injuries.
The impact to the utility pole resulted in power outages in the area, Lampiasi said. Chambers Bridge Road remained closed overnight between Route 70 and Ovation Way while repairs were being made, and the closure could continue into early Monday morning, Lampiasi said.

I hope the driver is okay. What a time for the power to go; power went off with 36 seconds to go as halftime of the Super Bowl approached, but it came back up just as Brady made the touchdown pass bringing the Patriots into a tie with the Giants at 9-9.
