Brick Woman Hospitalized After Drunk Driving Accident in Wall
Woman passenger suffers non-life threatening injuries after car slams into tree
A Wall man early Sunday morning was brought up on assault and drunk driving charges after crashing his car into a tree on Baileys Corner Road in Wall Township, sending his passenger to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
Sean Winters, 40, was driving a 1999 Volvo sedan headed north on Baileys Corner Road just before 1:06 a.m., when he failed to negotiate a turn in the road, lost control of the vehicle and sideswiped a tree on the southbound side of the road, Wall Police Sgt. Erik Ertle said in a release. Winters appeared to have been traveling north on the southbound side of the road just before the accident, Ertle said.
The front-seat passenger, 36-year-old Brick resident Danielle Yursha, suffered a fractured ankle and a head injury that appeared to be non-life threatening and was transported by Wall Community First Aid and MONOC Paramedics to Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Ertle said.
Winters was charged with assault by auto and driving while intoxicated, and is scheduled to be arraigned next week, Ertle said.
Baileys Corner Road was closed between Ocean Road and Allaire Road for 45 minutes, Ertle said.
Patrolman Jason Costantini is the investigation officer, Ertle said.

I truly feel sorry for this woman. This driver has had multiple DUI's and should never be allowed to operate another motor vehicle again.

Even if his license is taken completely away, I doubt he'll stop driving.

Driving a safe vehicle, a Volvo, doesn't mean a thing when the operator is an unsafe driver. What are these people thinking?
