Brick Summerfest Begins Tonight

Fireworks displays will take place around the Shore area earlier, however

Brick's annual Summerfest series of entertaining, family-friendly events will kick off this week at Windward Beach Park.

The July 5 event will feature "Separate Ways: The Ultimate Journey Show," a tribute to the famed band.

The concert will begin at 7 p.m., followed by a fireworks display at 9 p.m. The food court will open at 5 p.m., alongside DJs.

As usual, shuttle buses will run between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m. from Brick Township High School, Drum Point Elementary School and Midstreams Elementary School. Return buses will begin running at 9 p.m.

Remenber when it was Brick who started the Summerfest idea before other towns caught on. Now mist towns have something for their residents that they can be proud of. Thank you Brick for starting a great trend for the shore.

I can (and will) put in a suggestion to the company to add such a function. Thanks!

Spell check is controlled by your browser not the page. If you download Chrome or Firefox, spell check will be on by default. If you use Internet Explorer you have to turn spell check on, it's off by default in that browser. The Firefox and Chrome spell checkers work perfectly on Patch and any site for that matter.

Do you have to use the shuttle or can you park at the lot?

Good luck getting in or out or even finding a parking place... The shuttles are a great way to get there.

You can park at the lot until it is filled up; we recommend people use shuttle buses. The buses are available at Midstreams School, Drum Point School and Brick Township High School. Buses begin at 5pm. Last trip to Windward at 8pm. Return trips begin at 9pm.

Summerfest certainly isn't what it used to be. Remember when 4-5 REAL well known acts came here....Now it's movies for the kids and local bands....Oh for the good old days. Summerfest has been run into the ground!!!

As a Brick taxpayer, I am thrilled that "Summerfest certainly isn't what it used to be." I cannot afford for MY taxes to foot the bill for so many non-residents to be entertained. And what's the problem with LOCAL bands and movies for the KIDS? Seems to me there is now something for most Brick TAXPAYERS at little to no cost to them.

Reality,
Summerfest is paid for by corporate sponsors and the vendors renting space, not your taxes. Nothing in the world is more dangerous than sincere ignorance and conscientious stupidity.

Joe - Please reread my posting, paying close attention to the FIRST sentence.

Summerfest may now be FREE to BRICK taxpayers. If you believe the way Summerfest was operated previously did not cost the Brick taxpayer, then you are naive.
And, once again, I think it's great that there is now something for everyone. In addition, it's an added bonus that the non-profits can now operate a stand if they so choose.

No shutte buses for the other side of town? There used to be one leaving Brick Memorial HS. Typical.

The shuttle bus locations were scaled back years ago. Now there is one for the north side of town (Midstreams) one for the South (Drum Point) and a central location (BTHS).

Why always on a Thursday? Are we the only people who have to get up early for work? And who ever heard of Fourth of July fireworks on The Fifth of July?

Buses are gone from north side due to our mayor living on the other side of town. Herbertsville only received it fair share when Scarpelli was mayor. Say what you want about him. He's far better than what we have today.
