Brick Rescuers Dispatched, Recalled in Barnegat Bay
Sailboat was being towed back to port
Reports surfaced Monday afternoon of a potential rescue in Barnegat Bay for a sailboat in distress about a mile south of the Mantoloking Bridge, though in reality, the services of emergency crews were not required.
Pioneer Hose Fire Company dispatched its volunteer underwater recovery team after a report came in about a sailboat that had capsized, sending at least one person in the water, but the team was later recalled after the report proved incorrect.
New Jersey State Police Trooper Christopher Kay said that agency's marine unit eventually located the sailboat, which was being towed back to port.
